Another shameless plug on reviews from folks. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/poll-ovtune-reviews.535928/

The Alpha and transmission threads are wonderful places to track releases, ask questions on how to install, and interact with Mat BUT are not an easy place for folks to understand how the tune is running in the real world. Thanks to those who have posted up wonderful reviews thus far - I've asked mods for ways to keep the thread cleaned up and perhaps even sticky if possible.

@OVTune you should consider dumping all your customer emails into something like Constant Contact or MailChimp to blast out newsletters, updates. I can help you set it up if you want. This thread is kind of a nightmare to follow.

Yea, sifting through all the sh** is pretty tiring when trying to find updates/info. Not sure if you knew, but there are AT and MT specific threads also, but they're kinda like this one unfortunately.

This would be nice. I’m sure people will still come to the thread to then complain they haven’t gotten an email

I think the issue is that anyone not monitoring the thread has no clue 1.03 is even released.

Going forward there really should still be a beta and final release for each revision. Have a group of testers and then after they’ve had it for a while release it to the wild.

There’s plenty of things that can be done to make the process better and more streamlined and we are getting there, especially now with the flash manager. It just takes time.

    You mean tire right ;)

Tell this to my CR500R on muddy hill climb. Clutch modulation is your friend.

Agree. I purposely drove 65 miles in 4th gear at 65. Worst I could do was 15.7 mpg.

As I got used to the changes, it became a non-issue. It's now personal preference. I'm with the people open to modified map dialing back the response a bit. It's a truck, not a racecar, and I personally don't particularly care for a hair trigger throttle response like what I've had in previous vehicles where that was more appropriate.

If it never gets altered, no worries. Like I said, it's become a non-issue now, just what I prefer

about 250 miles in and man, that shifting behavior on the AT is so damn smooth! can really tell the smooth use of the half lock between gear shifts one thing I'm noticing around trans temps is that in around-town driving (generally <50mph) my transmission is staying more in the 140-150 range vs the 170-180 range so it is a bit cooler but still plenty warm within specs and still seems to be running about a predictable 190-197 degrees F on normal highway driving 70-80mph as normal.

I would also throw my hat in the bucket of the touchy throttle but it's not a deal breaker for me, and for now just requires retraining myself a bit. I will say that on stock tires/suspension/etc., the very first ever so slight touch (think 1%, if that) does equate to a pretty strong rush of power. This is awesome for normal driving b/c it then ramps up linear from there but really gets the truck moving with ZERO sluggishness. But when trying to slowly pull into my garage or back into a tight parking space that can be really tough to modulate so I find myself having to be ready on the brakes. Maybe this will settle down a bit w/ miles but I also feel like it may be one of those "be careful what you wish for" b/c if making the first 2% of pedal travel slower to come on would happen at the expense of all the other responsiveness I'd say deal w/ it. If it could be modified easily down low without messing the rest of the awesomeness I'd be willing to give it a try.

Also plan to try out the 87 tune for the hell of it when I run down this tank and will then post up a more comprehensive review in my other thread.

For now I'm looking forward to driving this truck every time and aside from just a quick "test" have not yet found any reason to do anything other than throw it into "D" and stop worrying about the transmission... hallelujah (please don't degrade, now!) :)

    I'm running windows 10
device manager sees the dongle and usb ports
    I'm not using a hub
All AV has been disabled, defender as well.

Mat tells me that my dongle is preactivated, but PCMflash says it's unable to recognize it. I did have to download PCMflash from the yadi.sk link. Only thing I can think of. @OVTune

Do you have more than one USB port? I had goofy issues and changing the USB port helped. It is windows, a reboot might also help out a lot!

First rule of using windows - if it doesn’t work reboot. If it still doesn’t work reboot again.

Yes, I've tried all ports. I've rebooted several times now.
