    Hey guys,

Any 2018 owners that have lifted / modded the truck with no issues to the TSS or the dealer? Also in general, how is everyone liking their '18?

black/black limited baklift mx4. Absolutely love it. Looks like the 16-17 bugs have been straightened out. absolutely no need to tune the engine or transmission. No use for the etc button either. All you have to do is dip into the throttle a little more and it surprised me and made me smile.

Also, dealer just said i may have to order one. He said 6-8 week wait time. Is this normal? Have some gotten it sooner / later? Its annoying no one has an OR DCSB MT around me.

Yeah that's normal for an MT. You aren't technically ordering one though. Just getting in line for an allocation. You could go on the hunt and find one faster if you want.

Well that kinda sucks. They said my current trade-in value might change due to depreciation too. Not by much though. Also, I thought dealers try and locate one on other lots anyways?

Just sucks, because i made a deal with my trade in, and now they have more flexibility to F with me on the trade knowing I will have made a payment or 2 until then.

That's just a sales tactic (the trade-in value thing). They just trying to get you to buy today or asap. If/when the time comes just walk if they try to lower trade-in value...it'll come right back up guaranteed.

And yeah they may try to find either a physical one or an allocation at another dealer and trade for it.

18 Cement TRD OR DCLB no problems here. All I have done so far was .... trifold tonneau, rain visors and some decals. Awaiting nice weather to install roof rack (nothing special, just oem) and hood deflector or bug guard whatever you call it.

Can't wipe the smile off my face every time I drive mine. Handles better on corners than I thought the offroad would. Would like a little better mileage, but it's a 4x4 truck. Plenty of power when I need it, ECT is there for a bit more pep.
I'm getting my sliders this week, and Huskeyliners has finally released their X-Act Contour mats for the '18. Next up is applying the vinyl overlays to my wheels.
Also, the Bakflip MX4 is the bomb so far.

I know its the same engine as my 16 SR5 Access cab but I tell ya, this thing seems to have ALOT more pep. Im sure it is mapped differently but has more get up and go off the line and while driving. when you push the pedal it just takes off.

So sounds like you'll be lifting it. Thinking by now its OK and most dealers will do it even with the TSS thing?

What do you mean? Dealerships won’t normally lift a truck up, you have to go to an off-roading/aftermarket shop unless the lift is OEM part.

As far as the TSS, I have heard of peofrom or not needing it adjusted if it’s 2” or lower. If it does and you get an error message, all you have to do is take it to the dealership and pay 150-200 to get it recalibrated

I respectfully disagree. The stock engine/transmission tuning parameters are anemic at best.

Well I feel my 18 has more get up and go than my 16 had

Oh really? I thought Toyota recommends not lifting an '18 and tells dealers to do so at their own risk or after original purchase? If they can recalibrate the TSS, it seems its all OK?

Literally for them to calibrated is have this paper looking thing on a wall with your truck at certain distances.

The reason for not lifting an 18 or any 3rd gen is due to people not researching the weakpoints properly like the needle bearing in the front diff which can be swapped with a 60 dollar part from ECGS. Or that more than 2” lift you will need UCAs. Also, when lifting a truck, the dealership can say that the lift messed up “blank” so they won’t cover warranty, but if you have a good dealership and know what you are talking about, they are less likely to scam you.
