    Yep.

And different flavors WRT throttle response were actually present when Mat was testing the first dedicated M/T tune - 1.03.

IIRC, he didn't end up going that way because 04B10 ECU had serious issues when messing with quicker throttle rate (like setting codes and going into limp mode - that happened to me and ARES32).

Id' be all for an OTTO only tune as an option to try out as well - bring it!

    This.
Once the rpm' s get higher, it's not as bad, and as I have mentioned, I just use a higher gear, which we can do now.

I'm not saying I don't like it, I do very much. I'm just offering feedback so others know what to expect. I have been getting use to it as I have just over 200 miles on the tune.

Guys, are you saying you'd like the throttle sensitivity maybe dialed back a touch in the lowers gears only?

    Like 1st and 2nd or 1-3?

Let's be clear so Mat gets the right picture.

Is the initial tip in too much? Perhaps a more linear feel all the way through the gas pedal travel in those gears?

NOBODY GET UR PANTIES IN A KNOT. This is feedback for a possible flavor of throttle response, not a wholesale change to 1.03B.

I personally really like the throttle sensitivity the way it is. I fact if it was dialed up a hair I would probably like it more. I know we will never see that old school carbureted built big block throttle snap but I wouldn’t mind it being a little more crisp.

Lower gears for sure. Like 1&2. Beyond that I don’t really care. That initial push is a bit too aggressive. Id rather use some more pedal travel in the low speeds.

You heard the people Matt. Make it more zippy and more responsive. They want full throttle at 1% peddle pressure.

Reading some of the posts lately, I think some would prefer the pedal be replaced with a switch so it’s either on or off. No need for anywhere between 0 and 100.

No worries. I don’t think anyone wants it changed much or really has any big complaints. Just some small adjustments. Now that Matt’s getting things dialed in and has this thing figured out, we can start getting some more options and personalization to fit our driving style. I don’t think you can have one tune that will make everyone happy.

While I initially think the response is truly amazing, if not properly managed, it could cause some frustration or even create a dangerous situation. I have read multiple people express this, some have had issue in wet conditions and some in snowy/icey/slushy conditions such as myself.

I do think more time is needed to see if it's a condition of the driver needed to re adjust to a truck with actual power and responsiveness, or if it does need a slight dial back at low rpm's and or speed.

So to be as clear as possible, I think it too early to tell. We are suppose to get a series of rain and snow storm this week. I am hoping to get out and drive in as much of it as possible to get more data.

bunch of stuff - Bro Pro style

Hey thanks... lurking man just lurking. Back in the day when the turd gen was a new thing it was soo much fun to grab a beer or 3 and hang and try no to pee a little. All my friends... wait, all my friend they all got banned.. so decided to give myself a time out b-4 ban-hammer.

I do have another question... anyone run this mod with a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust and the TRD-BRO-PRO intake??

I've been running that setup ^^^ for a while... I don't have any of the complaints that a lot of owners do with throttle response and general lack of power. I always though this engine felt like it has/had problems breathing more than lack of power ... well lack of power from lack of proper air flow.

I'm actually pretty happy and love my ride. Getting 14-15 mpg city/hwy combined.. so meh on that. Hopefully the tune with help me a little bit. Actually was getting 16-17mpg and took truck in for an oil change and now it never goes over 15mpg ever since.

First thought was the dealership did something to my ECU... they did have it in the shop a pretty long time for an oil change that I had an appointment for.... they of course didn't lube my drive-line again.

Oh and another question... once I plop down the coin how long to wait b-4 I can install it. Don't want to wait until buyers remorse sets in...

I have to disagree based on my experience. All truck may not be the same but on mine the loading and unloading of the drivetrain is very digital. This is what makes it dangerous. When driving in icy conditions the last thing someone should worry about is a millimeter in foot travel.

I will also add that my main issue with the Toyota throttle was with the limiting of the throttle to 40% not the degree in which it responded. there was room for some improvement but drive by wire will never be the same as a cable.

For those that want it really aggressive, I think you are missing the point. The less aggressive people want more control (hence the reason for a manual) over the car and not less. More granularity is a positive.

I want people to not notice that I am driving a stick when they are in the truck.

Are you saying you like the responsiveness or don't like it?

    ^^^^ this

Plus I keep thinking in some off road scenarios at some point you are going to hit a bump and blip the throttle and send the rear end out…

Still stuttering at around 2500 RPM.... Maybe I will run it for a few days and then try again. It is noticeable, I can actually here my intake like, "Chirp, Chirp Chirp" really choppy and fast. And it is right in the range that I am cruising in sometimes. It is very particular once I step on the throttle and move out of 2500 it goes away or if I decelerate it goes away as well. It is just right in that sweet spot.

In my earlier post I was in no way complaining about the current throttle response with 1.03b. Each of us perceives the driving experience differently. Our perceptions are based on our own experience and preferences. Goldilocks said it right long ago... Too little, too much, just right.

Side note: My last daily driver was a torque monster of a twin turo Cummins with tire smoke on tap Any where below 65mph. My current tow pig is just about as bad but muted a bit by the 37” Toyo MTs and lack of a second turbo. That said breaking the rear tires loose is a non issue for me. Catching the rear end swing out became second nature to me with my ’01 Cummins when I was running around on my commuter tires and wheels.

Shit man, I was hoping you'd be good to go. The stutters are annoying as hell to have on these trucks. You should reach out to Mat and let him know what's going on if they don't go away. As you may know, some on here have said their symptoms went away after some miles.. it varies a lot, anywhere up to 400.

Edit: @charlieyankee88 , when you sit at idle now, can you hear the engine rpm jump a bit and see it on the tach? Mine was doing that, and if I held the engine at say 1400 rpm it would do these quick little spikes. Yours? Here's what it sounded/looked like in 4lo:

Something that was mentioned in the alpha thread is the tires each of us may be running. I mention it here in the manual thread regards to our experience on the throttle response.

My truck is on 265/75r16 10ply tires and I also have several heavy chunks of armor on the truck. I am pretty sure that plays a major part in each of our experiences. Just thought that was something that could be taken note of.
