Very, very helpful. I did read up on others using a jigsaw and body saw so thanks for confirming that as well. I'll grab a body saw for this project. Last request as I think you've helped me out the most in preparation for this.

I'll take your offer of the measurement left under the tailgate, that'll help even more. Any chance you you could get the measurement from the top of your bedside down to the cut as well? Something like this:

If time permits, I'll document my install as I go. Thanks again!!!

Quoting again since I just got off of the phone with Steve at @CBI Offroad Fab and his advice was the same. He also said that if I don't need to save the paint in that area that a angle grinder with thin cutoff wheel will do. Still going to grab a body saw though.

So @Okiyota thanks again for the spot on advice!

No worries, I'll grab the measurements tomorrow during the day.

IMG_0668.jpg IMG_0669.jpg IMG_0670.jpg This is about as far as I got tonight. We wung it with the cutting, and cut a bit too high. Still pretty happy with how it's shaping up.

@jacobrippey Progress!!! You beat me to it. I won't have time again till the 24th to get to it. What did you end up using to cut? I've got a new body saw and my angle grinder waiting to put in work.

Ended up using an angle grinder with cut off wheel for the initial cut. Then used the angle grinder with a 60 grit flap disc to smooth it out. Did a few test cuts with the body saw and I think it would have taken us too long (was on a bit of a time crunch).

    Look killer man!!!

I still need to reinstall my license plate light bulb covers. Did you just re-use your screws? I know my bumper isn't threaded for it so I was going to look into another way of securing them on there.

Ironically, mine are just hanging unsecured right now. Not sure how I'm going to resecure it.

Zip ties to the rescue...haha. I'll post up what I end up doing for future reference.

@Okiyota your license plate lights are on right?

I ended up cutting the two plastic prongs located on the bottom of the license plate light housings (the side that mounts up against the bumper) so they sit nice and flat. Then used some stainless hardware to fasten them on. They're M4/M5 (can't remember since I just matched the factory screws) x 25mm machine screws with flange nuts on the other end.

I noticed the plastic on my housings are really brittle so I made sure not to over tighten the fasteners.

Have you done any frame reinforcements to hold all that extra weight?

From what I read, where the bed meets the cab, the frame in that area is weak and the extra weight of a plate bumper w/tire carrier can cause it to bend. Have you had any issues?
