I'm running same bars and originally mounted my hi-lift like that but when the rtt is centered it was hard to unzip it. Now I am running a rhino hi-lift mount which makes unzipping it easy, however I cant get the tent poles in on that side. hahaha

So I’ve been lookin to correct my speedometer on my truck also and just glanced through most of what you have written up about. I just have one question that may be a dumb one but here it goes. I’m 2wd do I still have this same speedo gear somewhere since I don’t have a transfer case which is where it is located on the 4wd trucks

@Floridagulfcoasttaco Yep, this ^^^, sounds like you found it. If you do the swap, will be interesting to see what you've got installed now, and what you switch to.

No I did it before I took it to a shop to have the u-joint replaced.

My guess is because I drive the highway mostly. Gonna park it until next week when I have spring break to fix all this shit

I definitely want to do it. Those where my next questions. Anybody know what size it will have in there from factory? It’s a 4at etc tranny 3.4 motor 4.10 gears. According to my door jam it had 225/75/15 tires from factory but the previous owner had the dealer option of 265/75/15 with the nicer rims added on according to my Toyota so I wonder if that will effect it. I went up to 265/75/16 tires and my speedo reads 60mph when Im actually doing 63 and 70 when My gps says 74.

Well, I'd say you fall squarely in the "jackpot" category. ;) You drive 74 miles and your odometer only logs 70. You'll have a low mileage Tacoma for longer! :D I wouldn't change anything. But, you're looking at losing 1 tooth or so, to get accurate.

My bet is that you have a 30 or 31 in there. You could pull it quickly to see, then get a 30 or 28 (note: I assume the 28 will fit in your AT even though it's listed for MT, since the other tooth part numbers are the same... But haven't tried myself.)

Part numbers are in my thread, here again:

    Automatic Transmission
    Manual Transmission

Check the play in the pinion bearing. I've seen people bazooka seals at things that really have other problems

Just gonna have a shop deal with it. U-joint was bad which likely cause the seal to go bad and I likely didn’t seat it properly when I put a new seal in.

I guess you could look at it that way hah. I’m mainly concerned about keeping an accurate count on miles for service purposes. I can definitely see a change since my new tires so I wanna get it back to where it was. I think I’m just gonna pull it out of my tranny and count the teeth and go the next lower gear. It looked pretty simple just to pull it out and replace the gear right? You wouldn’t happen to know the part number for that o-ring either would you? I’m gonna order a few before I pull the gear out.
