What kind of winch is it? Everything helps, ive read and heard the best is to take it off every year, clean it up, check the seals etc.

A winch cover is great, i used one on my jeep for two years and one winter. After that it still looked perfect.

Still deciding if i want to put a winch on my new truck. I had one for two years of wheeling and used it one time for a friend. One of those nice to have but is it really necessary? Last two times ive gone. (Ardbeg and snow) tow straps worked just fine, one guy winched because he was far away, but i bed two straps would have got him off where he was stuck so.....

Yea I see a winch being useful if you solo wheel like the wife and I do very often. Then you can get yourself out.

I can not convince myself to strap a winch to the bumper and let the salt eat it. Cradle with a winch in it is the only way I can see spending money on a winch and being happy.

That way it will also be front or rear usable. I purchased Eugenes Mobtown front tow point receiver bar for this exact reason.

sure, not sure if there's a better/worse product.. dielectric grease would likely be a scheduled maintenance item, whereas silicone would likely last longer. Other products would likely be considered more permanent even than silicone, but its up to you what to use.. i think I used an rtv sealant, but it was kind of a guess/within reach at the time..

I'll just use a bit of silicone. I'll let it dry and then slide the boot over it. It's more to keep water out as long as possible. Do they make covers for winches to place on top? That would help a lot.

I’m the same way, i go out on my own in bobcaygeon alot. Only way i can get this miss to come with (little day trips) then back to her place in bobcaygeon. That being said i take it easy when im by myself cause well its obvious. I usually stay away from mud etc

I keep buying unnecessary stuff for the truck so the winch will have to wait anyways.
And the constant weight of the winch on the front..

I was hesitant on the winch too. It's added weight to my daily drive for use a few times a year, if that. I like the peace of mind it's there if I need it. That's one reason I also want to protect it from the elements as much as possible.

The side rails are bare meta which sucks. I would if it was aluminum.

As long as it is not CoreCrappy Douche Inc. it's a good price for this rack.

There's a guy on Facebook that made a post few days ago wanting to create one like what Nate was doing. Shortly after someone tagged CBI and he spoke to them and then deleted the post. He will build his own from scratch he said. If it's him, that might be one of his prototypes.

That rack looks too good for it to be a core.
