Hmmm, sounds like you got a crappy rebuild. I am now wondering how long my pump will last. My steering rack is loose as fuck now, probably doesn’t help the life of a PS pump either.

 

Yeah all the reman racks I have gotten suck too. So now I am running a brand new OEM rack, brand new OEM tie rods, OEM LBJ's and soon an OEM pump. 35's and heavy wheeling is no good for first gen reman steering shit I've learned.

You ever consider a power steering cooler. My shit whines like a teenager and I suspect it’s from wheeling. Lots and lots of turning at slow speeds with weird pressures from the tires being on weird objects sounds like a recipe for heat to me. Thinking about adding one if I ever replace the pump.

 

That is actually a really good idea. If I remember to bring my IR temp gun, I will check the temps while wheeling.

 

Replaced my pump and rack too - both with used OEM - wish there was an IFS upgrade...
