I don’t have pics but I put a dent big enough to need to replace my gas tank.

Right in the middle, lost a quarter of the capacity. I run a skid now!

    (This was on my ‘85)

Got hung up on a rock on the rubicon.

Just wondering if the tank skid is over rated.

    Just edited my post.

‘85 Toyota pickup and the rubicon.

Walker hill on the left. Got hung up on my driveline which I got out of only to land on my gas tank.

The first gens have kind of a sheet metal one. It's basically the same material as the factory skids. And it's got some dents in it. I plan on upgrading. Mainly to protect the fuel pump.

True! I was dicking around, making things interesting. Also not a Tacoma.

I probably will never wheel my Tacoma like I do my pickup.

Not saying there a bad idea just 95% of the trails you will run you will never need it. And about 99% of the guys on here will never run the trails were they will need it.

The only trail my 2 gen gas tank saw a rock was hell hole. I havnt run any other hard trails to compare but slick rock.
    Good lines help.
Plastic is more forgiven then sheet metal.
    But still week.
Good eyes and a spoter when needed will save your ass.
When in doubt. Get out and look it over.
    Not the other saying.

Probably the last skid I would buy.

Lots low hanging areas that need it more.

Sliders, diff/front end, bumpers, tcase/transmission, then maybe gas tank.

And a hi-lift. I’ve prevented lots of damage with good use of a hi-lift

I’ve slipped off a rock and put a big dent in a oil pan once. Got very lucky on that one.
