God forbid a tech use a little mechanical enginuity to get a filter off. A mom and pop place will figure it out and maybe crack a joke with you on the way out.

I purchased the McGard 25357 from Amazon for $44. They were suggested by Dustin from FN Wheels. It comes with 1 key, but I contacted McGard once I got the order delivered and purchased a 2nd one as a back up.

Did you purchase a 5th wheel for the spare? He sold me one with a very small unnoticeable blemish for $99. If so, you can purchase a spare wheel lock from Toyota Parts. I forget the price, but you can do research for the price online.

    Thanks.

Didn't purchase the 5th yet. I figured I'd ask for a blemished one shortly. Tires expensive!
    Already have the spare lock

True that! Good call on going with the black wheels. The bronze would have not worked with your rig set up.

Bought some SDHQ Built ABS Guards. I want some peace of mind for those pricey sensors.

    Bling Day.

Installed Voltmeter into cubby left of steering wheel, SDHQ ABS guards, and Gear Tech engine splash guards.

What lift option did you use for the splash guards?

Well, I've heard worse stories about some service techs, though I suspect a tone of sarcasm here.

However I always get the feeling when I'm at the dealership for service they try to make me feel like they are the only ones that can do what they do. That what they're doing is so beyond my capabilities. There's always an air of arrogance, or worse, condescension. Very rarely do I get the feeling they are thankful I'm helping them make a life for themselves and their families. Never once has a tech come out into the waiting room and thanked me for choosing them to do the work instead of the other guy.

    It's sad.

But hey, I'm willing to ask a tech service manager if a mod like this will be a problem before hand because the last thing I want is to do is embarras someone, or cause issues.

My first true insight into the expertise of my local dealer happened at visit number one. I would like to qualify this by stating that I took auto tech 1,2 and 3 in high school with a great instructor, graduated, worked at a Ford dealer, went to advanced training at a vo-tech and went back to work at the same dealer, worked on my cars, family cars and have done hundreds of side jobs over the past 40 plus years. I had 3 easily proven issues with my truck. Long story short none were identified or repaired by the dealer. I advised them in great detail that 2 issues would only be witnessed by a test drive. After service was complete the head "EXPERT" tech advised me that my issues could not be true and he could not reproduce and prove my claims. He mentioned 3 times in a 2 minute talk that he was a Toyota expert and did not drive my truck. He actually talked to me as if I were a 79 year old woman. Made videos of my issues, sent to dealer and corporate, and all 3 were promptly addressed and fixed by that EXPERT at that dealer. Fortunately my 2 year free crap ended in December. A dealer will never touch my truck again unless there is a warranty or recall repair. If their EXPERT is so arrogant and incompetent then what if a less qualified tech works on my truck. Thanks but no thanks.
