Any vibrations since the lift?

 

Everyone I’ve seen install this kit has been nose high. Myself included. Good luck

 

Did you use an AAL?

 

none.

 

My 1.75" Billy lift gave them to me. New TSB bearing under warranty and nothing since.

 

Also, i use my bags to bump the rear up 1.5 and get no driveline vibrations from that height.

 

This has me scratching my head. I'd agree, it seems like everyone is ending up nose high. But my hub center to fender measurements translate to 1.75" lift. And 1.75" seems to be the most frequently reported lift value. As such, I'd expect to be level.

So either the lift is actually giving 2(+) inches or the hub to fender isn't a good reference measurement for front vs rear.

 

Yeah but if your lifting the front 1.75" and not the rear your going to be nose high. The best lift I've seen so far is the 3 AAL with the overload LEFT in...

 

So by lifting the front, the back will go down a bit as a result? Is that what's happening?

I've also been surprised by how many people have done the 3 leaf aal without OL and STILL look nose high.

 

Without overload should give 1.5" with 3 leaf, from what they say. With overload should give 2", from what they say....

 

I'm Thinking of going with a whole new leaf pack. 2" with OL is too much lift. 1.5" without OL would be fine, but I don't want to lose weight capacity. I haul some heavy loads throughout the year.

 

I think 2" more in the rear is just right for this kit though..

 

eventually, every Tacoma owner needs a new leaf pack. General Spring or Wheeler's 5 leaf pack for constant loads and some lift. Air bags or Timbren SES for infrequent heavy loads. Or both.

 

Just stumbled on this thread. I read through the first 5 pages and it had me drooling.

I have a feeling most vendors have sold out because I clicked on a few of the links posted and it said "item unavailable" or "can't find" etc etc.

I read a bunch of the answers, but I'm still too ignorant to understand exactly what I would be getting into if I bought this kit.
I gathered that it is supposed to lift the front by 1.75", but doesn't lift the rear because it's supposed to level the truck, but then people are saying the nose is way higher?
I'm kinda confused.
I understand this is a phenomenal deal, and I would pull money out of savings for it, but if I had to commit to buying an AAL pack as well, then I might reconsider such a purchase.

Also what is this "taco lean" I keep reading about. From common sense, I've gathered that the truck sits unevenly with the driver's side being lower, but what is the cause? I've never heard of it, so I have no idea how serious it is, why it happens, if it is worth fixing, etc.

My truck is a 2005 Access Cab, 4cyl, 4x4, non-TRD truck. Just SR5. Just got a new frame with new leaf springs as well if that matters.
Hope this will improve the stance and give me something better than the 140k stock suspension.
Anyone got some good before and after pictures?

 

I have yet to install the kit (still sitting in boxes), but from extensive reading I have learned that this will in fact level a truck (granted that truck has brand new leaf springs). Most people installing are doing so on settled leaf packs and are reporting a nose high stance. Most seem to be compensating with a 3-leaf progressive pack and that seems to put things level again.

"Taco Lean" is the driver's side sitting lower than passenger's side. This is due to the gas tank and battery both being on that side (extra weight gives it that lean). This kit compensates for taco lean by preloading the coil on the driver's side.

Seeing that your truck is a 4cyl, you might net slightly more lift than someone who has a v6 (due to weight).

 

Plus he's a 1st gen access cab. I'd think he'd definitely be on the high end.

No, my truck is a 2005 Tacoma <-- 2nd gen Taco.

Unless you're referring to the 2nd gens being split into 2 groups (it seems there was a mid-cycle refresh around 2012)?

I wouldn't mind the truck looking a bit beefier, but not if it's gonna look stupid or make the TRDpro package not worth the hassle.

 

2005 is a 2nd gen, but very good point about the access cab. Didn't even think about that.

 

The 2000 5-speed AC listed in your header info? That's where I got that.
