Looks like it’ll tow what I need it to by the sound of it. But can’t tow within the first 5000 miles. Which is gonna take me a while ‍♂️

Yeah, I thought there was an extra zero there. With the lift, I would get a receiver hitch that lowers the ball a few inches to help keep the trailer level. I keep the shifter in S mode so I can control how much the tranny shifts. Other than that, have at it.

I towed a 22ft travel trailer to Oregon from Virginia with my 2011 with tow package. I'm not familiar with the differences between the 2nd and 3rd gens, but the tow rating was the same on mine. The trailer's dry weight was about 3900, and I had a 500+ pounds of tools and my most prized possessions in the bed. I also have a shell on the bed and an ARB bumper and winch. Overall, I'd say the added load to stock configuration was pushing 5000 lbs. I upgraded my front brake pads and rotors and had a transmission servicing before the move but that was all. My overall impression of the trip was, just because the truck CAN tow it, doesn't mean I SHOULD HAVE. I averaged just a shade under 10mpg for 3300 miles, and hovered right around 5mpg on one tank climbing the mountains in Tennessee. Haha. That said, for shorter trips and a lighter load, (I assume your setup would be lighter than mine was), you shouldn't have any problem.

I use ECT for heavy trailers. I leave it off for light ones. Just see how it feels either way. On my '01 4-banger I never turned it off. I rarely use it on the six.

I tow this (4,700lbs loaded, 500lb tongue weight). I use a weight distrubution hitch and have zero sag in the rear - stock leafs with 1” lift block.

Haha. Looks like sod is not gonna be a problem. Between that and a polaris Ranger is about the heaviest I haul. I have a access to a small Kubota tractor but have never hauled it. Tractor I think only weighs about 3500lbs and I wouldn’t be pulling it far. Maybe 25miles.

That Ford Ranger is probably pretty close in weight to the Kubota and I pulled it about 30 miles with some decent size hills. Power was a non issue, the rear suspension was a little wallowy but I did have the Ranger loaded a bit too far forward on the trailer. I use that trailer a couple times a month during the summer to tow a Miata race car with spare tires, camping gear, pit bike, etc. Hauling anywhere from 20 miles away to a few hundred miles away up through the mountains and the truck handles the weight very well, stops it well, and always has plenty of power.

Towed this set up thru the mountains last month and it did just fine. A little slow on the big long climbs, but that is to be expected.
