@USDashCamera since I have no idea what I'm doing with electricity - for the add a fuses, if I pull a fuse, drop that in the lower slot of the fuse tap? New fuse goes in the top, and does orientation matter at any point?

Any tips as to where to run the rear camera wire (right now I'm thinking drivers side, behind weatherstripping and plastic pieces on the top side), and has anyone verified constant/accessory power fuse slots on a 3rd Gen yet? I'm using a Power magic Pro

There's lots of videos on YouTube of how to hardwire dash cams. I am planning on watching one of them (or a few) myself. I have seen most recommend using the dome light fuse for your power. Have you purchased a taller fuse box cover?

The original fuse goes into the lower slot, the new top fuse slot is for the dash cam, so a 3-5 amp fuse is adequate. I actually wired my constant power straight to my battery because I put an aux fuse box under the driver seat so i can hook up multiple cameras easily for my reviews. But as 1bad2k said, the dome light should work as that is possible to turn on even when the truck is turned off.

Well, I figured most of it out.
So, I got the orientation down. Side opposing the wire goes to hot.
Blackbox my car sent 20amp fuses with the fuse taps. Am I better off replacing them with a lower amperage then? I saw somewhere that the top new fuse should be lower than the original, is that accurate?
I'm looking to tap into the dome for constant, and will probably use a power outlet for the acc.

    https://www.blackboxmycar.com/blogs/news/how-to-use-an-add-a-fuse-kit

according to their site 2-3 amp fuses are ok if you are just using a regular dashcam, but 7.5-10 if you are using a cellink battery. not sure why they sent a 20 amp.

also the fuse box cover under the hood in many vehicles has some extra fuses and a fuse puller.

I tried to get an answer from blackbox, but they just kept telling me that a 20amp fuse was fine. I can't imagine the cam draws more than a couple amps, so in my head it makes sense to use a smaller amp fuse, but electrical work isn't my forte.

This may be a dumb question, but I'm not an electrician so bear with me... Does the amp of the fuse you chose to tap make any difference at all? I tapped the 20amp fuse labeled S/ROOF because it is always on, and I don't have a sun roof so I figured I wouldn't be taking power from anything else.

The add a fuse I got from NAPA ( 2 of them ) has a recommendation of 10 amp max. Meaning the circuit to plug into from the trucks fuse box in dash. Will it deliver more amps? Yes. Is it safe? Also yes....to a point. With that said, I have my full time USB charger sharing the same fuse tap as the camera, WITH a 3 amp fuse, and the original fuse returned into the tap for the truck circuit which is a 15 amp circuit. I did the same with the ignition circuit but used a 10 amp slot from the truck and a 3 amp fuse for the camera as well as a 3 " monitor I use for the front camera. This front cam is completely separate and is like our rear view cams. Hope this makes sense, so feel free to PM me if it doesn't.

If OP or anyone else is around, can you post a pic of what fuses you used for wiring power?

Yes? As in, I want parking mode, and do not want to use the 12v plug.
