2nd and 3rd Gen TRD Embossed Skid Plate

Is this group buy still open and how to buy in canada. I seen the product is made in canada so wondering how i can escape exchange rayes if possible

 

Any chance at a close up pic of this? I was thinking of having my buddy weld something up for me to do this. A picture for him like they say is worth a thousand words.

Got the plate installed today. Took a little under an hour, start to finish..
I ended up not using the washers in between the aluminum spacer, and it looks good.
I ended up using a floor jack to bring the plate up into place, and the way the plate is weighted, that worked out real well as the angle of the plate made it very easy to slide in the rear slots to the loosened bolts. From there it was a matter of lining up the front holes through the existing tin cover using a scratch awl, getting the bolts started and tightened enough to align the skid plate. I tightened the front ones enough to be slightly snug, and gently used a rubber mallet to coerce the plate in place. To finish up, I tightened up all four bolts. I did end up using blue loctite on the bolts.
I am waiting for the M12 bolts before I install the tow hook bracket.

You can barely see the TRD in the pic, but it shows up better in person. Way too sunny today, if there is such a thing.

New to tacoma world, also new to the world of tacomas. Finally was able to afford one and jumped at the offer. I'm definitely interested in getting a new skid plate. How's everyone like this one so far?

Had to do some minor modifications, but my third attempt at install was a success.

 

What did you do to the spacer?

 

Looks like he trimmed 1/4" off. My guess was for adjustment to even the gap?

 

Yeah, I had to remove some material to get the bolt to thread in, and also to slim down the gap.


I also omitted the washers around the spacers, only using the flat and lock washers just under the head of the bolts.

 

What happens if I miss the package when it's delivered? The scheduled delivery date was perfect, but FedEx decided to be really good at their jobs and bump it up a day - which I'm out of town.

Will they try and deliver it the following day? I was going to try and change the delivery date but FedEx wants 5 bucks to change that.

 

Call FedEx and have them leave it at one of their outlets/stores and pick it up from there.

I picked mine up from a local (somewhat) Walgreens because they were going to deliver while I was out camping. Granted, I set this up prior to their first delivery attempt.

 

Appreciate the advice, however I live in BFE and the I know the nearest FedEx/Kinko's is an hour away.

 

They should re-attempt the following day.

In regards to holding locations, when I checked, there were options aside from a FedEx/Kinko's.

 

So does it bother anyone else that they have this bad ass looking skid plate that is black and the front hardware is not black and sticks out like a sore thumb? Maybe it’s just me?

Reroute to my house if that's an option. Probably charge for that too. I'm guessing they'll just try again the next day. Perhaps sign for it online?
