I posted this reply in a different thread about the same subject --> After getting a good sized door ding, I wasn't so OCD about every little thing on my Tacoma. All and all I would of rather not have had it dinged, but it did lessen my stress of it staying perfect.

That's how the tech's treat your new car at the dealership. Mine has come back with everything from scratches on the bumper to grease on the inside. They also don't perform specific work you ask and pay them to do. Never go back, do it yourself or find a mechanic you trust. Good luck.

That's a real bummer. It looks like its been keyed to me also. I once owned a Lincoln MKX that was black. The paint was like looking into a mirror when I bought it . The first time I took it to the dealer for service was the last time it looked good. It looked like it had been washed with a brillo pad. No amount of arguing brought me any satisfaction. I learned then to never let anyone wash my vehicles and I do all my own servicing. I really hope That your Toyota dealer will make things right with you .

You can get that scratch out. Hard to tell from here, apply some water and see if you can still see it. If you cant, then its likely just clearcoat. Even if not, that is a small scratch and any pro detailer can get it out. I had similiar and had to wet sand, then buff, polish, ceramic and seal it. Cant even tell and it looks better than factory which has orange peel from the crappy paint process they use

Once I just waxed my truck and the dealership washed it without asking. I went behind the dealership to look at the brushes they use in their automated car wash and they were filthy. :(

Man, that sucks. Sorry this happened and I hope you get results. I am going to make sure that I do a walk around before taking it anywhere even with an employee to note.

If the below doesn't work.... but find a quality shop. Ask the high $$$ guys where they go.

    What he said, most likely.

    Work in progress...
I got my first big door ding at the Habit. Man the Habit has some great burgers. I think the people are so hungry for the burgers that they slam their car doors into each other. LOL, I guess the joy of owning a Toyota is "what the hell" it's only a Toyota.

If all else fails, have detailer take a look at it. I say it’ll buff out with some wet sanding/polishing

Man, this reminds me of another post where the aftermarket grille broke the surround on some tacos and the recommendations for repair where um pretty good.
So, I'm gonna guess go off road in a wooded area scratch up the rest of the truck and you'll never notice it again.
But seriously, since you left the dealership maybe an apple or a cookie cuz that's what's in the waiting room if you had seen it before you left and pointed it out you may have gotten it fixed.

No way to match a single panel 100%. Not saying they couldn't get close. But it will not be 100%. It will range from something that only shows in certain light or angles to holy shit, that's not even close!

This is why I do my own service. Had the same thing happen to a Jeep that I took in for warranty repair. I know another guy who drove off the lot after service with no oil in the crankcase.

My dealership takes pictures before they receive a vehicle. They should all do that

    LS1 swap with nitros.
A body shop will paint the scratched area and blend it into the adjacent door and bed. They will then clear the scratched door as well as the panels that were blended to (front door and side of the bed).

I find many of the recommendations here useless given you drove off the lot.

It’s a life lesson. Do what I do:
Pick a day to go to the dealer that is nice and sunny.
Wash your truck. Arrive at the dealer early. Take pictures of your truck AT the dealer when it’s nice and clean.

I take pictures of the doors tailgate hood bumpers mirrors interior etc. I make sure the building is in the background and it’s nearest to the service bay.

You have photo records at the dealer with the same date and time as the appointment. Did this and had a nick on my door. Dealer had to pay for an entire door respray on my last tacoma. Showed the manager the pictures before the appt with the dealer and lot in background. He said had I not taken picture it would have most likely been ignored.

It's possible. The trailing end of the scratch looks like the clear coat was marred but not that deep.

I buffed this off my roof.

I remember over in the 2nd Gen Section a guy took his truck in and the Dealer forgot to put oil in, he drove away not noticing the light on for about a mile and by that time the engine was gone. The Dealer searched the Junkyards for a 4.0 to put in his truck to make up for their mistake.
