Beautiful pup and lots of drive in that picture. I like the red coat. Now that you have posted pics, I see you have a full bed cage so your tent sits higher. That only makes it more difficult. Good luck!

yeah she’s a light shepherd. She’s way over the height standard for a female though, very tall and lean. Hit me up if you ever go to fiesta island or dog beach. We go there all the time

Can you situate the opening on the RTT by turning it so the door or one of the openings face over the tailgate? Your ramp can be that much shorter and less steep by supporting the bottom of it with a tailgate extender https://www.amazon.com/Truck-Bed-Extenders/b?ie=UTF8&node=15737901

I’ve made a cover for my dogs’ kennels out of reflectix and duct tape, worked well in the desert down into the teens at least. Worked for them with the kennels on the ground, and plan to use it again with their kennels in the bed of the truck when camping (inside the shell).

My buddy's Great Dane stayed in his vestibule. If you don't have a vestibule, the easiest way to get her in the tent is to teach her to ride across your shoulders. It's easy to teach smart dog to climb up and lay across. Once you get her on your shoulders climb the ladder till your shoulders are just at the tent opening. She will figure the rest out pretty quick.

I've always just kept my dogs in the cab when its below freezing, I have a full backseet cover that creates a sort of "cradle", I fill that will blankets and they seem to stay plenty warm, especially when there's two of them to cuddle up. I havent done much below say 15-20 degrees though so I guess if you're camping below 0 might need to take extra measures.

If you're really worried about the temp differences get a little $20 temp data logger on Amazon, throw it in your truck, and see if it actually gets colder than outside. Either way dogs run a pretty high body temp so giving them blankets for insulation and with the fur yours have I'd think they can withstand even below zero outside temps if they're shielded from the elements inside the cab.

My guys don't have as much fur as your magnificent beasts and they've never complained :)

Whoa now killer, let’s easy up our reactions to some memes here. I highly doubt you would address me that way in person so let’s keep your keyboard heroics to a minimum.

To address your question, I’m not sure if you missed the details of an 80 Ibs dog into a full bed rack. How many people do you actually know that can lift 80 ibs on their back from the ground, or even the tailgate for that matter, to something that is the height of your truck roof and do so safely.

    That’s my fkn point...

Yes I read all that and I try to post helpful info or suggestions. I'm not one of the aholes that dont contribute anything but stupid memes and sarcastic responses . I would have said that to your face, I'm a grown man and that's the way I talk. Anyone that's in half decent shape can carry at least 3/4 of their weight on their shoulders considering they lift properly with their legs. 125lb woman should not have any problem with an 80lb shepherd across her shoulders. Even If she's barely 5 ft it's only a matter of one or two rungs on the ladder to get the dog into position that it can get itself in. It takes practice and learning on the dogs part, it wouldn't happen first try, but I've seen it done and have seen shepherds in particular learn to ride shoulders very quickly.

That ^^^ ... we have 2 dogs... put them in the back seat both folded down, and we have the largest soft sided crate that will fit in the back. Add a foam bed with cover and can partially cover the crate with a wool blanket if cold. My dogs are 48 & 44# Shar-Pei. They both get in there an hunker down... good for long 500+ mile trips and the crate can be folded down and removed easily. Dogs can make the jump into back seat as well. They don't mind being picked up and put in there either.

    These two points seem contradictory.

Lighten up bro he was merely making a joke, given the mental image you painted of a tiny woman doing a fireman's carry with a bigass german shepard up an RTT ladder.

Even if you were serious gotta admit thats a pretty funny picture :)

And you're right she probably could pull that off but then getting the dog down is another pain in the ass AND the guy I bought my RTT off of sold it partially because his fucking dog fell out of it :/

I say stick the dogs in the cab.
