Does this sound like a good price on a lift?

I just got quoted 1,450 for a lift. It includes Bilstien 5100s up front with Old Man EMU Coils and Icon add a leaf in the rear. They are also mounting and balancing my new tires on my new rims. This would be 2 inches up front and 1-1.5 inches in the rear. Does this sound like a good price? Thanks

It's really easy to compare prices to Headstrong, Wheelers, and other TW vendors who are known to be very price competitive.

If you're OK with their labor charges but find that their parts are high, nothing wrong with asking them to match a TW vendor's pricing on the parts.

 

2nd'd on the about $700 in lift parts. As for mount and balance, say $30 per tire, $120ish. The rest is labor on the lift install. $630.

 

Yeah that's high on labor... had mine installed for about 3hundy maybe not even.

Parts from Headstrong... so should be able to get the lift parts + installed for $1k.

What if I kept the stock coils and just used the bilstein 5100s to raise it on its highest setting? Would that be a bad thing as far as how it will ride?

 

That's only going to save you about $175 in parts.

 

The coils are only $170, I don't think it's worth skimping there. Your issue is labor.

Yeah totally right. Im gonna stay with the EMUs. Ill prob keep calling around see what I can find in terms of labor. Just wanted to see what other guys were paying out there to see if the price im getting sounds right

 

Try to hook up with a local TW mod day and get some help with the install for the price of beer.

 

If it includes and alignment I'd say it's fair. Shops have overhead to pay for. Plus you get the luxury of bringing it back if/when it makes noises later on.

Are you talking about the front? By coil do you mean keep the spring? You could IN THEORY (possibly) do that, but you're not going to gain any lift and it's probably going to drive worse than stock...

If you've got a friend who knows a thing or two about cars, have them lend you a hand and make a day out of it. It's really not that hard to do it yourself, just time consuming. With the right tools, almost anyone could do it. There's tons of step by step guides online on how to do this. Regardless of who installs it, make sure you have a full alignment done afterwards and try to get as much caster out of the alignment as possible.

As others have said, it's the labor that's killing you here. If it was me, I would gladly do it myself than to pay over $600 for a "professional" to...

Yeah I was talking about the spring. Keeping the stock spring and putting the bilstein on the highest setting but Im just gonna stick with the Old Man Emus. Yeah, I was thinking about just doing it myself at first but I dont wanna screw up anything, it doesnt seem too hard though
