I'm the one that's not being hostile. I'm just trying to give you a tip that will make it a lot easier when you do retire.

Dude, if you know anything about investing, what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for someone else due to amount of money, time, age, family, etc. Just chill with the attitude.

You don't have to have a lot of money for a DRIP. You can put as little $25.00 or more into it every quarter, and it grows fast.

I will never, ever take advice from someone who opens their introduction to me with
"your full of shit". First of all, be a bit more respectful; and secondly, learn grammar.

Reinvesting dividends (i.e. DRIP) is nothing new. It's safe, and for your age and risk tolerance, that works great for you... congrats. No need to talk shit about my investment style just because you have a different strategy.. you have different expectations and needs. You are obviously risk averse, which is great if you want a nice steady 10% per year. I don't. I'm up 30% this year, and I can tolerate and monitor the risk associated with my strategy.

That also doesn't mean I'm going to "put CHK under my pillow for a year"... I'm constantly buying it and selling it when it hits certain levels. I don't just squat on it... this isn't my 401k we are talking about here. Even 401ks are actively managed by someone.

This thread is for investment BS.. and not "MY strategy is better than YOUR strategy" kind of BS ...

Kinda hard to believe you’re older with some of the comments you’ve made on here. Sounds like more of a teenager trying to get attention by trolling. It’s probably best you stop viewing this thread and move on to playing your Pokémon.

never fails... talk of interest rates always causes a drop. If the Fed chair so much as whispers "hike" the Dow drops 500 points.

Yeah that’s why the stock market is so dangerous right now. Not even someone like the fed chair needs to speak. Last week one of the Kardashians said she wouldn’t be using Snapchat anymore and their stock tanked. You know the stock market is a sham when this happens.

Yeah..... honestly, at this point, buy dividend stocks is the safest play from my point of view. And slowly buy 100 shares at a time. Look for stocks that are near or close to their 52 week low. Even if they drop, you’ll be paid to wait til they rebound. I started turning my portfolio towards those types of stocks, from those that are high priced and no dividend.

yeah, sounds like a good option. Where should I research stocks with good dividends? Just use the google?

Yeah. Pretty much. I’ve actually been watching a few : GME, F, GAIN. All are close to their 52 week low and pay 5-10% dividend. If you can get into GME by Thursday you can get in on their quarterly dividend ( 38 cents ) as their ex-div date is Friday.

Don't you have to hold for a minimum time to get dividends? I think people would cheat the system and buy right before a dividend and then sell right after otherwise, right? Sorry I'm new to dividend paying stocks.

You just have to buy before the ex div date. For GME, it’s this Friday, so you have to buy it before Friday and hold it until Friday to get it.

Interesting. I would think people would take advantage of that.

Well, the price of the stock drops by the amount of the dividend on that ex div day, so it’s a good and bad thing.

It can just be added to your broker Balance or you can have it buy more of that stock. It’s something you decide with your stock broker
