Was this a direct bolt on, or did you have to mod it in any way?

We had a rare 60 degree day in February today, so I took a 1/2 day of vacation and installed OR shocks and struts on my Sport. I just got back from a quick ride in our neighborhood with really crappy roads and it felt much better. The bumps and potholes no longer make my teeth rattle. I doubt the corners will be as much fun as they were before, but it's a truck, not a Miata. I can't say the color combination of the Bilsteins compliment the Barcelona Red paint job, but I can't see them while I'm driving. :)

I also greased the front u-joints since I was already crawling around the truck.

All said it took me about three hours, and the only time I cussed was when the grease gun gun stuck on the zerk fitting that is hidden behind the shield. Not a bad afternoon.

It is a direct bolt-on with one very simple, optional mod. I would grab a couple m8 x 1.25 x 60mm hex flange bolts to replace the 50mm's that come with. This gives you a little bit of a gap between the lower bumper valance and the skid plate. If you don't do this, the skid plate, when tightened, will hug the valance which I think looks pretty silly.

My Sport with 5100's rides so much better than the Hitachis. They were just too stiff for me.

I personally didn't do much other than swipe and sign but this got done... 4Runner pro wheels with falken wildpeaks 265/70/17. Just a smidge of poke, no rubbing but I took the oem mudflaps off prior to installation as a precaution and why not show off the tread. IMG_0678.jpg IMG_0679.jpg

Very true, but using a Magic Eraser can be beneficial if you know that minute scratches will be left. I have used it before on paint and plastic to remove stubborn stains or paint transfer with good results knowing that I would have micro scratches on the truck when I finished. I just used appropriate scratch remover to clean up the rest of the paint after I finished. And I always tried less dire measures first to see if other methods that were less likely to scratch would work.

Super easy once I used a heat gun, which got 90%+ of the adhesive off with the decals, then GooGone easily removed the rest. The portion I peeled off without heating took a lot longer with GooGone.

I removed mine in less than 5mins with a heat gun. Super simple.

That was my next idea. That stuff was there when I bought the truck. I haven't spent a bunch of time trying to get rid of it, but every time I see it, it bugs me.

Just thinking out loud but how 'bout a little Dawn dish soap in warm water
Just my two cents but if it were me I'd try the least invasive options first and move up from there. The magic eraser probably would be my last option. McGuires makes a plastic cleaner that works pretty good. You can always move up the progression ladder but you can never go back.
Maybe even talk to someone that does detailing before trying anything.

Just out of curiosity, how is the magic eraser invasive?

It scratches your paint. Removes clear coat. Can't reverse that process once done.

It however fine, is an abrasive.
