I will admit they've gone in the shitter recently with the generic "In transit to destination" updates. WTF happened to the old tracking where you got an actual location? I never had a problem with the old way and it was usually updated pretty thoroughly.

An aside from that I drove by your remote office yesterday, ABCO. The sign out front said "you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning".

I have a 110 if that will work.

It’s not wrong! Appreciate it, but it’s 3/16” plate. Rear bumper is mostly welded together and the fucking welder took a shit.

I'm OK with late, all I want is it to actually get to KAC and for them to be able to diagnose and fix the issues. I am but a simple man. :p

I'm talking to companies for my first civilian job in 10 years... either I think I'm worth too much or they aren't willing to pay for my experience. It's almost insulting how low todays offer was. Is this normal in the civilian world?

I was shocked how little jobs pay here in AZ. Some were damn near half of what I made in SC.

But what you don't make in money you get in sweet loving from a guy that drives a big truck.

    Yes.

Well, to be fair I don't know your exact situation but generally yes. HR departments do not want to pay anyone anything but the bare minimum unless you are coming from a competing organization or something where you have specific applicable experience and skills. Even then it's a tough sell.

Some of it is due to the lower cost of living out here but some of it is also due to a massive labor bubble. There are tons of open jobs in Phoenix, but a lot of them are non-sustainable tard-farms looking for warm bodies to burn out.

I took a 20k pay cut when I moved to SE AZ compared to when I was in the Corps, but it ends up being a raise once cost of living is taken into account.

Unrelated, just found out I'm considered essential personnel in terms of bad weather. woo... /sarcasm

Yeah, true. I'm a sysadmin, so I could have been paid considerably more to be in san diego, or even phoenix, but we like it more down in the southern AZ high desert. I wouldnt mind the phx area that much, but I'd want to get paid substantially more for living there.

    One reason why I'm relocating.

I have significant specialized experience, quite a bit of it.

That's one thing I'm worried about. Some of these companies hire people knowing it's just going to burn them out.

Pretty much everywhere I'm looking has the same or higher cost of living than AZ. Mostly East Coast places... gotta go where the job are.

My field usually does as well, which is why this offer was so frustrating.

So, today's offer was in the Florida Panhandle. I'm making about $57,500 here with the Air Force... which is decent money for Tucson. They were offering ~$50,000 plus a 10% kicker for the crappy schedule. Almost what I make now, but a slightly higher cost of living and higher tax burden.

I'm an Imagery/FMV/GEOINT analyst with the required clearance, 10 years experience and specialized training, plus NGA certs. They asked what salary range I was looking for, my requirement for that area was $75k- $85k, which is very reasonable. I know I can get that in Fayetteville, NC or Charlottesville, VA but I prefer the nice sunny beaches.

At least I have 5+ months until the Air Force stops paying me. I'll just keep looking... this civilian job hunt thing is difficult.

Good on you for starting your search early. I started and stopped mine a few times before I went on terminal because my EAS kept changing due to being a med hold. I got my offer abput 45ish days before going on terminal, and that was a big stress reliever.

If I was staying in Tucson I could probably handle 45, but if I end up in DC... that's not even close. I have a couple versions of my resumé. One for each of the specialities I'm applying for. I don't want to get down to the last month and have to accept a mediocre offer somewhere I'm going to hate.
