No idea about 2nd, but not true on 3rd gens. All 3rd gens are 6-lug. Many 3rd gen SR and SR5 (including mine) come without flares.

Well I’m thinking he is strictly talking second gen. They quit making the 5 lug trucks and PreRunners when they started making 3rd Gen

So if I wanted to buy a truck like yours, I'd have to come to Texas and drive it back to Pennsylvania?

You guys are probably going to be happy about this...

As much as I don't want to believe it sometimes, society is changing and in many situations people are going to think that someone with a camera is up to no good...

That said, as much I love taking pictures of vehicles, I don't think I'm going to do take pictures outside of car shows unless it's a Ferrari or something...

Remember how my friend Emily said Tundras couldn't haul shit when I suggested she buy one to pull a horse trailer? I saw a 2004-2006ish F150 XLT (presumably with the 5.4L V8) pulling a horse trailer and it seemed to be doing just fine!

    I did...

She still thought they couldn't haul shit, and that's when I stopped talking to her. NOTE: I did not cut her out of my life for talking shit on Toyota trucks. That was merely the straw that broke the camel's back!

How soon will you bean AARP member?

I got my learner’s permit in 1984. I also had a 1976 Mercury Bobcat station wagon with the fake wood grain with a/c. Got it for $75 the trans didn’t shift out of first. Found a couple vacuum lines off. Reconnected the lines and ran fine.

    So, here's what happened...

I have developed an interest in photographing what can only be described as "dead and dying retail," and believe it or not I have NEVER had a problem taking pictures of vacant buildings in my area (aside from some random family in a Volkswagen following me around the parking lot of a closed K-Mart in Warminster for unknown reasons). I think I may have finally found a photography niche that allows me to scratch that itch!

Today after work, I drove to the struggling Penn's Purchase outlet center in Lahaska, Pennsylvania. My last stop before heading home was the former Bose store. While taking pictures of the Bose store with my phone (from my truck), I discovered what I initially thought was a Nissan Rogue, with wheels and tires that would look at home on a Jeep (or a Taco). As I got closer to the vehicle, I realized it was a Subaru Crosstrek, and I thought it was really cool looking. This Subie was literally the only vehicle in that section of the lot, and I looked around to see if there was an owner nearby I could ask. There was nobody around, so I've done hundreds of times in the past, I took a picture of the Subie (this was with the iPhone and not the Nikon)...

    IMG_5343.jpg

I then backed up a bit and snapped this picture of the side of the Bose store (this was the last picture I took before leaving), and then I left...

There's a notoriously long traffic light to get out of this part of Penn's Purchase, and it is marked NO TURN ON RED. There was nobody coming in either direction, so I took a calculated risk and made a right on red. Out of the corner of my eye, I see this kid who doesn't look old enough to drive walking on the sidewalk to my ride. He's looking at me, and all of a sudden he throws up his hands and yells at me to stop...

I was thinking he either knew I made an illegal right turn and was trying to play traffic cop, or he was in some kind of trouble. I was driving through a very affluent area of the county in broad daylight, and there were several people around. There was nobody behind me, so I stopped to hear him out...

I had my left window all the way down and my right window cracked. First thing this kid says is "You were taking pictures of my car?" and I honestly didn't know what he was talking about at first. I'd taken that picture so quickly that I'd damn near forgotten about it in a matter of minutes. I'm like "Wha...?" He points over at the parking lot where his Subaru is the sole vehicle. I'm like "You mean the Subaru?"

He's like "Yeah." I'm like "oh, I just liked the way it looked..."

He says "Oh, sorry" and I realize there's a black Porsche coming up behind me. I tell him there's someone behind me and drove off...

I do not know how the hell the kid saw me, but I 'd say it ended well...

Did your A/C work? Bill's A/C was not working when he got the car.

@PennSilverTaco IMHO, in regard to the picture taking in public places thing. If you enjoy it, I think you should continue. But perhaps scaling back the amount of photos of the subject might lessen your being viewed as something suspicious. Like the other day when I snapped that pick of a truck at Walmart. I snapped one pic, I doubt anyone even noticed. Maybe that would work for you.

I'll be 50 this year. I paid $100 for my Pinto. Drove it for about a year and a half. Sold it for $200
