That’s a really good question. I did an extensive research. And I’m going to go a little beyond of what you’re asking me. I called many (if not all) dealerships from south OC to North LA County and some up north. There are only 3 dealerships in SoCal that offer MSRP. Longo at El Monte, one in Temecula and another one down in National City in San Diego. None of those 3 had one in stock. The rest of them wanted 5k and up. Some told me they could cut $500 off but those also happened to have nasty add-ons so none went below $52,000. The greediest one wanted $60,000. Out of all those dealerships only 15 of them had a pro in stock but they wouldn’t budge on the price one cent. They all said they had the only pro in the area and some even dared to say in the state lol. Only one had a MT in San Francisco but again a bunch of nasty add-ons. ALL of them but longo said it was impossible to order a pro MT.

About the list, most of them offered a wait list with deposit only. Most of them wouldn’t say what your place would be on the queue. Some of them said they couldn’t even order pros at all or that they were at the mercy of Toyota or that they were only alloted 1 or 2 per year.

My friend works at Longo and he told me the “wait list” is called “wishful thinking list” inside. And they do honor the order of the list as long as you have a $500 deposit. If a car they receive matches what you want or near it they will call you. If you refuse it they call the next person and so. I can’t speak for the other dealerships that do wait list.

Yea...this confirms what I have seen too. Someone at Longo told me they had around 40 deposits and at this point adding to their wait list your chances would be slim to none on getting a Pro this year. I do not feel like I got the deal of a lifetime, but do feel $46K ($1500 over MSRP) on an impulse buy with a dealer down the street...I think I did ok. Not to mention a VERY fair trade on my truck with the lack of dealer add ons and the many dealer perks I’m very satisfied!

Congratulations on your Pro you are going to be very happy with your truck.

You got a decent deal. I personally wouldnt pay anything for MSRP cause I’m very stubborn.

My friend let me get in the queue without a deposit since I had bought a Tacoma there before but he told me straight up my chances of getting one this year or even the next were non existent. And I was the 6th person on the manual transmission group. They do get more pros than other dealerships.

Thanks. I can’t wait to pick it up.

It's nuts seeing what you California dudes have to go through. Almost seems worth it to extend the search far outside of Southern California.

To be honest, I didn't have much of an issue here in NC once you get past some of the sales hyperbole. There was one dealer that had one on the lot with ~2k of markup disguised as "upgrades" (pin stripes, tint and a wax job).

It took a bit of work to get the dealers to compete against each other to where I was able to get one to knock $750 off MSRP via ordering. I was originally told 10-12 weeks, but that just magically turned into 4.

Wow, glad I’m in the Midwest. I found one at a dealership in Kansas City (400) miles from me. Saw it on the website, and it only had door sill protectors, all weather mats, and wheel locks. Told the guy I was ready to come get it, no trade in. They were asking $44,823. I offered $44,223, and they did $44, 523.
    SOLD!
Flew out the next week, and drove her home. I can’t see paying $5k or more over msrp. Very nice truck, love it to death, but not for $5k extra. Just the principle...

Well, to be honest, most dealerships in Oregon have it at MSRP. So we don’t have it terribly hard. It’s just a matter of taking the time and search. I saved myself 5-10k easily.

I love it, man! The fox suspension is awesome. The trd cat-back exhaust sounds sweet. I committed to the Cavalry blue sight unseen, based on pics, which seemed to vary so much. Once I put a deposit down, And bought the airplane ticket, I was locked in. I was a bit nervous, but once I saw it in person, I was in love. Like the cement, pics don’t do it justice.

Picked up a Cavalry Blue Pro (MT) this Saturday. One popped up in stock about an hour from me, apparently a special order which fell through because the guy couldn’t get financing. Paid MSRP but had to pay for a few accessories added by the dealer: running boards, bed mat, and rubber floormats. No big deal because I’d have added at least the running boards regardless. Still feel like I scored finding an Manual Pro so close to home.

If you ever think of selling or would consider trading your MT for an AT, please let me know! I love the truck, but miss driving MT.

Sorry bud. I’ve been waiting 3+ months to pick up this baby. I’m pretty sure I’m keeping the manual.

Started looking for the wife for a Calvalry TRD Pro 4Runner and the asking prices are ridiculous. Anyone have a lead on one without all the add-ons? Would prefer private party, but every private party is asking well over MSRP.

dealers are taking full advantage of the popularity of the pros, and putting all kinds of stupid accessories on them. Shame on them. I was lucky to find my pro with minimal add ons.

    Good luck
