I had the same issue. I extended the breather and added a catch can and all has been good since

Yes. I bought a cheap fuel filter with replaceable element. Ran a new line from the diff to it, then added a shirt hose that I bent to face down. I removed the filter element so it is just a catch can. That way if fluid does come up that high, it will collect and eventually go back into the diff.

I need to check if any fluid actually made it into the catch can. I found that the factory breather leaked even without use of the locker.
I kinda developed a theory that the extra material in the clamshell caused more thermal expansion of the fluid causing it to rise up to the factory breather and out if it. Thicker ring gear, ARB having more metal than the open carrier, etc. Could be a false theory also.

That’s odd. One was just two o-rings at the diff. I’ve never heard the front diff do that before.

That's kinda been my running theory too. I love the idea of the catch can. Sounds like the route I may go.

My front diff breather is covered in something I figured either gear oil or fluid film I smelled it but it didn't really smell. I locked the front and watched the breather and nothing. Sooo idk :notsure:

You fellas gonna snow wheel? Calling for 5-11” of the white stuff now on fri up there with up to 50 mph gusts from that No’easter plus an inch or two of rain the day prior on thurs :(

I was supposed to head up to the WMMR cardboard classic early fri to watch that mess then Ski all day. Now it looks like a blizzard is coming fri, Which I guess is good for the ski conditions but shitty for visibility. I’m heading up no matter what, worst case I’ll sit around a campfire and drink beers if the mountain gets closed but will stay hopeful for skiing and the cardboard classic.

A Rausch Black covered with 11”’of white stuff with a base of greasy few inch deep mud is bound to be interesting :)

x2 either the double O rings on air locker side are not sealing properly/damaged or (seen this more than a few times now), the soldered connection to the copper air line has cracked.

Luckily enough, since typically the copper air line breaks so close to that coupler..a replacement is very easy to install. Other than having to pull the diff o_O

This forecast seems overly optimistic for Rausch, as the forecasts that I have seen are for considerably less. Wait a day and see the update.

The area is only looking like an inch, seen Rausch stay open for worse than that all the time. If you message them on FB they get back to you pretty damn quickly.

    We're wheeling, weather be damned.

NOAA is calling for 3" overnight and then mid 40s on Saturday. That seems more realistic.

It'll be a slippy, soupy mess, but that's part of the fun.

You should come over and wheel if the cardboard classic is CNX.
