Morning all. Supposed to be about 60 today. I hope to get some time in the park or at least outside

With some notable exceptions, I'd agree. Some of the high-output low-displacement stuff from Europe makes some pretty dirty noises. But, they also get some pretty outstanding exhaust noises from the factory, so the aftermarket improvement is minimal.
But a CBR with a Muzzy still sounds pretty awesome to me.

 

I want the least amount of sound coming from my truck. My muffler is leaking and I have a spare TRD exhaust waiting to get installed but I'm afraid to install it - I'm so tired of exhaust noise. I even had the quietest aftermarket exhaust imported for my Evo I hate noise so much lol

 

Not in the minority at all. I'd love to throw an exhaust on the Ferd but it would get annoying when towing. That 5.0 sounds great but makes all it's power on the top end so listening to it scream (and I'm sure my kids because they wouldn't be sleeping) for hours on end wouldn't be fun.

The TRD actually does sound pretty decent. Not overdone, just a slight, low rumble. When it's revving high though, I'm not really a fan of the sound.

 

I have the TRD exhaust on mine. I think it's fine. Has some drone to it, but you get used to it.

 

Like the guys with the lifted diesels and 5" exhaust. You know that they don't actually use their trucks for hauling anything more than ass because it'd drive them crazy if they did, listening to "BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" for hours on end and 'rolling coal' down the side of their trailer.

 

I could not disagree with that statement more. The GM's back then sounded like they had a fart can straight from the factory. The TRD exhaust is a pretty low tone (obviously not as low as a V8) but some of the others on the 4.0 sound OK too

Very bad idea! The cooler in the radiator helps the transmission come up to temperature quicker as well as help the transmission stay cooler once it's up to temp. Don't do it

 

The TRD is still pretty quiet.

 

I'm sure there is a night and day difference between a TRD exhaust and anything that is made for an EVO. Besides that the EVO like the WRX really has NO sound insulation to speak of whatsoever

 

I have heard Rebecca's truck and she has the trd exhaust.... I'm hoping that the hole in the muffler doesn't get louder so I don't have to actually use the exhaust.
That reminds me I'm still sitting on headers and a tuner for my truck...

 

Headers aren't going to help with the noise...

I'm the same as you Jason. I am not a huge fan of loud trucks, and I'd rather have my truck sound like a Hybrid haha. The quieter the better.

Then again I do love the sound of a diesel, so maybe it's just a V6 thing...

 

Yea I have decided not to install the headers - they'll be up for sale eventually...

You'd never guess it's a Volvo based on the sound. I'm a truck guy for sure, but I'd love one of those.

 

Ha, glad I'm not the only one. I'm so excited that my 2.7 F-150 will be nearly silent.

 

It's really nice to be bombing down the highway at 80 and not have to raise your voice at all to talk, or adjust the volume on the radio.

Edit- I honestly never realized how loud my Tacoma was until I took the F150 on the highway the first time.

 

That's the truth! I've been reading about the new 6.7 Cummins and a common mod is to remove some of the insulation in the intake. It seems to let you hear just a little more of that turbo sound and a little more of the exhaust brake. I'm a fan of both of those sounds in moderation so I'd go that route if I end up with that engine.
