Shouldn't be bad once you get the u-joints out. Just a straight swap out. I could be wrong though

Edit: I'm caught up on all the other posts now, carry on...

They also say that their WS transmission fluid is a lifetime fluid. Toyota says a lot and only replaces full assemblies like an entire driveshaft when all you need is a u-joint.

Amen!!! A lot of manufacturers do that hence why Dorman and other aftermarket parts companies are in business they make things the manufacturers aren't willing to sell individually and only as a complete unit, or have stopped selling because of the age.

Radio shack, auto parts stores, hardware stores, etc. I walk in with a part number and if they want to look it up they can after they give me the part. Hell there are parts on my truck that "don't fit" on my truck same goes with the Rover.

Back when I worked for Advance, I remember seeing this option of steel vs aluminum drive shaft with steel or aluminum yoke.. so stupid.
Just as bad as the mud truck guys putting chevy axles under a ford. Sitting on the floor for 45minuts looking through every box...

Bring your old joints IN! Match them up right there at the counter!!!!

    That meme is perfect!
 I have old parts books around somewhere from MOOG and the like that I use to look pats up on the awesome thing about those is they give you all the dimensions you need so if something from another car can work you are golden. It just take some good ol ingenuity and forethought.

Sorry, but pretty much everything you said was incorrect.

You stated the double cardan u-joints were likely the same as the other u-joints (they're not) & that they can be bought at any local parts store (they can't) & that Moog makes the ball & socket (they don't).

Neapco is the only known manufacturer that sells the correct size ball & socket.

Rockford is the only known manufacturer that sells the correct size u-joint* (outside spring clip style).*

*If your double cardan came with the inside c clip style u-joint there are replacements made by Rockford, Precision, Spicer & Matsuba.

Finding the "Canister Vent Solenoid" I have on the Rover was a bear.. Land Rover wants $600 for it. A Chevy one has no cross reference part number to Rover looked and is exactly the same works for $11.
