I do all of the fluid and filter maintenance on our vehicles but had neglected a difficult to change interior cabin air filter on our 4 year old compact SUV for two years after driving in extremely dusty and dirty conditions off road in the desert several times.

The interior started smelling like manure. I removed the cabin air filter and it had a nasty looking thick dark brown layer on it, no doubt assisted by receiving plenty of moisture from our typical wet, humid and rainy weather.

I changed the filter, and no more nasty smell. The interior air was clear again.

No more will I miss an annual cabin air filter change.

Well the saga has concluded. Got 'er back, with two free door dings. (They show up real nice on a black doors) Cleaned and mold free, nothing new or replaced. They also thought my little felt liner, in the bottom of the door pull, was more valuable to them and not me. Gotta get a free one from them, purely out of principle.

Those little puppies get sucked up in a vacuum like it's their job.
