    What if you cut some off the tap with the screw hole and re drilled the hole? Would that move it far enough to the left so you can close the lid?

    You should probably do a proper self-examination of the opening to determine condition. If you find any significant issues (especially a loose gasshole) seek professional assistance.

He has like 700 mods on this forum and works 3 regular jobs, has 15 kids, and does neurosurgery on the side for a local hospital. He's a busy man.
