3 inch lift with stock tires.

I'm trying to break apart getting my truck lifted and getting new wheels and tires because that's expensive.

So would it look dumb to have a 3 inch lift on stock tires? Just for a couple months. I've seen a couple threads but I'm not quite sure to be honest.

It can look a little gangly - especially with 245 series tires - but not too bad.

You could simulate by lifting the front/back with a couple of jacks.

It'll look a little off. Not a big deal though, people do it all the time. It's expensive to do it all at once. Other option is to get the lift and not install it until you have the wheels and tires.

Found this picture. More on google if you search "Tacoma 3" lift stock tires"

It was like that for me. It does look a little off, but you do what you can when you can. I waited about 8-9 months before I needed new tires. Then got what I wanted. It’s almost like watching you’re baby grow

It’ll look even more goofy if you have undersized street tires.

I’d just wait until it can all be done at one time. Or even within the month. A couple months is a long wait.

    I ran 265s on a 5" lift for over a year

Sure, they were a tad bit small and some people will poke fun.

But, it gave me enough time so save up for the w/t setup I wanted.

AND, its also gives you a chance to diagnose vibes/lifting issues without throwing in the "are my new tires not balancing" into the equation.

    Just my $0.02

why not buy the lift now and just keep it until you can buy the tires and install all of it at the same time?

What about the other way around? Maybe get tires and wheels first and just drive straight??? Jk I would say buy the parts you can afford as you go and stockpile it in the garage. Just don’t install it until you have all the parts. But do you whatever you think will work for you. If you don’t mind the look then go for it.

I'd rather have a good lift and stock tires than wheels and tires and a spacer lift.

Nothing wrong with building as you go.

    You do you, boo-boo.

I went the other way and bought the bigger tires before getting the lift, don't see anyone getting roasted for big tires unless they're rubbing like crazy

Honestly who cares what other people think. Its your truck and only what you think looks good matters, unless you're doing this solely for other people.

I did it the other way around: bigger tires and then lift later. Of course that depends on how big of a tire you plan to go. If you plan to go 285s that's not an option. I had planned on running 265s with my 3 inch lift, which is also a size you can run on stock suspension.

I'm currently doing it now. Sure, it looks pretty goofy with some 245s, but I needed my rear end beefed up asap since I haul heavy loads a lot. Wheels will come in another 2 months or so. Step by step.

Any tire you plan to run should not rub through the full cycle of the suspension. Put on the wheels and tires you want while suspension is stock. Make the appropriate modifications so they don't rub. When you lift, you won't have to deal with any of that.

Even 37s will fit on a Taco with no lift.
