Thanks for the info ReconDoc718... I'm going to order a second set a wheels today, haven't decided which yet. Torn between a graphite OEM TRD 16x7.5" wheel or the opposite end of the spectrum with basic black 16x7 steelies. I've decided on BFG KO2 235/85/16's, they're cheaper and lighter than the larger E rated tires. I spend about a month in southern UT every year on BLM/forest roads and would appreciate the durability of the heavy tire. What sucks? I just installed new Bilstein 4700's (stock height, non adjustable) up front last week vs 5100's... ugh I'm sure I'll have 5100's on order after I mount the new wheels/tires.

My personal opinion is that if you need to limp to the next gas station then you put on whatever you have. But as a best-practice, if you truly want to mount it and keep rolling as if nothing happened, then match your spare to your other tires and include it during rotations.

Just found 4 steelies from a 1st gen Tundra (the backspacing should be great with 235/85-16). Ordering tires now! Will post pictures next week. This thread has been very helpful.

maybe I missed it, but will a 255/85 not fit under the bed? I fit a 285/75 under my old 1st gen and figured if it fit that a 255 should fit fine in a 3rd gen since it's a bigger truck (more room to fit shit lol)

This escalated quickly... Just ordered Bilstein 5100's to replace the 4600's I just installed on the front. Thinking the 1.75" setting should work good with these pizza cutters and TSB/airbags in the rear. Local tire guy that I've dealt with for 20 years thinks I'm insane for ordering 235/85/16 KO2s lol. Should have all this installed by next Wednesday!

Those are true pizza cutters. What is the overall diameter of those tires?

Oh I know that is what this thread is about. My point is that 235’s are truly skinny, 255’s aren’t so much unless you go comparing them to 285’s

Only 0.3" difference from my stock tires, I doubt I'll even notice a difference in width.

He was concerned I would hate the E load rating and asked if my 2.7L could even turn a 32" tire lol, I think he was 99% amused, 1% concerned. I think he simply wanted to upsale me to 265/75/16's which are also E's (more money for him).

UWU, great choice . . . you'll find that airing down, if you do that type of thing that you won't loose traction, they become elongated and a touch wider but the traction is amazing even down to around 15lbs (Air in the tires) kinda like a tank tread, but you already knew that right ??? :burnrubber::cool: so good luck and enjoy the rides
