has anyone else experienced this problem? It is loose and allowing water to leak into the cab. I do not see any external screws to tighten it. Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks!

Take it to the dealer its a warranty thing, or take your headliner down and tighten it yourself but youll void the "warranty"

It has been a thing with trucks from a certain time from a certain factory. Apparently things got tightened too much and caused leaky gaskets from my understanding.

It requires taking out the whole headliner to fix I think.

Oh and dont try to silcone it becuase they will immediately void the warranty and any issues are yours to fix from there.

I saw something about that. They are okay with him taping it though, right?

From my understanding yes, but honestly he should get it over to a dealer because if it shows it was a leak due to the gasket theyre supposed to fix everything and repair/replace any water damage.

Yeah, I didn't know if there was still a wait for parts. If they tell him he will have to wait, I am sure they will at least tell him what he can do in the meantime though.
OP, definitely take care of it fast. I saw a post from someone that was having to have most of their interior replaced because it happened for so long there were mold and water stain issues.

Thanks all. I'm lined up for tmrw to take it in. Is the tape method ok till then (not gonna void warranty) its leaking like a sieve. Also, I have prisnu racks are they gonna try and blame it on the racks? There are no evidence of leaks where the mounts are.

    Thanks!

I would ask the dealership prior to doing anything. Don't want to create an issue for yourself the day before you get it fixed.

As the other guys said take it to the Dealer, I think it's under a recall and they put in a new light housing and gasket.

Had mine replaced last week. All of a sudden going through a car wash it started leaking and leaked from there. It did take a dealer a few weeks to get a new brake light assembly in stock but they were understanding saying lots of 2016’s have the problem and ordered the parts without me having to come in for a diagnosis. Didn’t take very long for them to replace it, others said half a day, I think on the workorder it said .6/hour

Took mine in on Friday for the same issue. They are waiting on the part to come in. I'm making them also pull the back carpet to make sure there is no mold or damage.

From the overhead console above the drivers head ? I had an issue and took mine to the dealer. They saw I had a tinted sunroof and adjusted the glass and told me they wouldn't work on it any further because the tint guy had adjusted it . I am a autobody painter and bodyman and actually know my tint guy through work . He didn't adjust it. There's no need it's 100% viewable from edge to edge. Anyway I got pissed and dropped the headliner and the windshield was leaking bad. I sealed it with auto window eurathane. 2016 baja Mexico build.

Thats some BS that they wouldn't fix it for you. It was just an excuse to get out of the work they were supposed to.

The location of lights on the roof does seem to cause possible leaks over time.

As the center high mounted stop light only illuminates during braking, having the light on the upper tailgate seems as though it would meet the requirement and reason for it to exist. Power is now in the tailgate for back-up cameras also.

Roof top tents, racks and cargo block the light also.

And then Toyota could have installed lights inside at the back of the bed like some of us have installed as aftermarket.

I know perhaps it would cost Toyota more money, but fixing interiors with water damage takes time and money also, and causes distant future leaks for the owner to repair.68B5799A-7861-45C4-B670-ACD4572154DA.jpg
