hey guys my tacoma will not lock every time I try to lock it it will just unlock. It also will rapidly unlock even when im not clicking it or if the truck is locked. Its super weird and I tried replacing the door control panel. Which worked for a week then it started back up again. I just cant figure it out. Its almost like I have a ghost in my truck thats just screwin with me and unlocks my doors haha.

I also had my door alternators checked and it wasnt that either. It sometimes happens when I bump the truck so maybe its a wire or something I dont know just wanna see if anyone else has had this problem too and knows how to fix it because toyota has no clue.

Your truck thinks the key is in the ignition. Here's how it's suposed to work. If the key is in the ignition and the doors are closed, you can lock it manually or with the door switch. If the key is in the ignition, and a door is open, it won't let you lock the doors, no way, no how.

Its not that it wont lock in general it can lock but then it will unlock. And then it just will constantly unlock non stop. As if i was to just spam the unlock button over and over

Check the door switches for the interior lights. If you have a door open ( or if one of the switchs is defective ) it could cause this same symptom.

In the situation I mentioned above, it will lock and then the BCM will immediately unlock it, but it should only unlock once. The system is fairly complex with the BCM in control of everything. There are switches in the door that tell the BCM if the door is locked or unlocked. Maybe one of those switches is bad. If the BCM sends out the unlock signal and it doesn't see the unlock switch close, maybe it will keep trying. Here's the schematic.

Even when the doors are not locking there is a clicking sound coming from the fuse box below the stearing wheel in the cab. All my fuses are good. So if I completely replace the BCM should this stop or is there a good chance it could be something else?

Replacing the BCM would be a very expensive GUESS. The system needs to be diagnosed. There is very possibly just a bad switch somewhere.

Just a thought, have you tried using your other key fob instead to see if it still does it? Maybe your daily using key fob has a bad switch. Make sure when you try the other fob that the possible bad one is far enough away from the truck so it does not interfere with the diagnosis.

I'm having the exact same problem on my Tacoma. Also, I noticed that the volume on the radio randomly goes down. Did you ever find a solution?

Did you check the door switches as suggested several times above?

I think I finally resolved my door lock issue. It took three trips to the dealership but they may have finally fixed it. The Handle Sub Assembly and the Cable Assembly of the front driver side door had to be replaced. Below are the mechanic's notes on my repair.

"Removed inner door handle and could not duplicate the issue. Compared to known good vehicle and found that there is an extra piece of plastic installed in the customer door handle. Inner handle misbuild/deformed. Cable deformed also. TAS #191890150 advised to replace cable and inner door handle. Replaced inner door handle and lock cable"

I am currently having same issue with my door locks. Came out of nowhere after shopping. I went to get in my truck and after putting key in and unlocking driver door the unlock and lock mechanism started going crazy.

I do not have a key fob. It's an older model so nothing fancy. It continued after starting the truck and stopped once I put it in drive but then my radio went silent.

I got home and now it won't lock. I went to passenger side door and locked it manually but the driver side door unlocked immediately. The other doors remained locked.

Was there a fix to this besides sewer rats fix?
