If someone else welded them on and then sold them to you, then they likely cut them off at the legs and left the mounting plates on. In theory, if theyre welded on properly with plates and leg gussets, they should be stronger than bolt ons since the welds themselves are stronger than the metal thats being welded. Seems like to me the welds would be stronger than any types of bolts used to attach sliders.

 

People generally don't like to drill into their frame should they have to. Welding it in a sense makes it "one with the frame"

I see what youre saying on those, but they look pretty nice still. Gusset em up on the tops and i think you should be good to go. Are you debating between installing these and getting a bolt on set?

I personally just think they could use a little more plating on the part that mounts vertically to the frame. Hell of a deal though at 280!

 

Well I have the cad file for bolt on, debating that route, friend has a plasma cad machine sooo I would like to just cut off the angle iron and weld up the new ones, or that is my thought.

 

If a bolt ever loosens, or where to rust it will sheer off or bend and at that point it will cause more damage than not having the slider because the whole slider could possibly crush the rocker panel. On a weld on there's not a center point of failure, ( the bolt), the weld covers the complete mount interface which makes it a stronger connection.
