I read that they haven't, but for the price and infrequency that it'll be used, it was a sound purchase.

I got a used one when I got my 17, it was on for about an hour. I may have done something wrong, but just hatted the way it closed. Some where in the forum I posted Picts, just don't remember where.

I’ve had both now.89CAD8F1-B94F-4A6B-9CF2-FFA5583FD492.jpg 29F278AE-89F2-49C0-9B07-792C2820121E.jpgThe security and near complete weatherproofing is worth it to me. I really liked the look and functionality, but it kept coming down to I didn’t trust leaving anything in the bed. Now both the tailgate and shell lock with my key fob, much more secure. Luckily I almost got back what I paid for the Softopper, so no loss there.

It’s a snugtop rebel with the sportsman package. Planned on getting it all setup with a prinsu rack and a hard shell tent and awning. The snugtop with the extra reinforcement for weight was the only choice that made sense to me. Luckily I shopped around on the price and got it for around $1000 less going out of state.

I have a softopper and I love it. If it’s sealed right it does not leak. I live in coastal Alaska and it rains all the time. Absolutely no highway noise. I can fold it down in less than 5 min. I too was unsure because I do eventually want to carry kayaks and such and would need a rack on top. There is a thread on here with someone building an awesome rack specifically for the softopper. Supposedly can be removed in a very short amount of time and light weight for when you need to load large objects. The total amount would still bring you right in at a base hard top setup. Would be way easier prob to remove rack and drop softopper than try and one man lift a fiberglass cap and secure it to add a large object. Much less hopefully not damage the fiberglass cap in up and down removal process. The only downside it security. I don’t have too much of an issue but depends on what you keep back there and where I live.

Does your bed-cap area keep the water out? Mine always gets some in during rain, enough to make me not want leave exposed valuables in.

My father's hard top canopy still got broken into and the SOB stole a couple fishing rod setups including my GLoomis drop-shot rod and Shimano reel :annoyed:. I bought a soft top and love not having the weight. If someone wants in, they will get in

True if someone wants to get in they will try, but its more of a deterrent rather than soft topper which you can slash open with a knife.

Agreed, hell, they don't need a knife, just unsnap the sides. I'll tell you what though, rolling up those sides in the Summer and chilling back there by the river in a chair or blow up mattress is something else. Depends on your needs

The same asswipe that will slash the side, obviously not bright enough to just lift the side up, will bust the locks or window on a shell.

That sounds awesome...unfortunately I need the cover for rain most of the time here in the NorthWest. I'd love to need a cover due to sun.

tacosnow.jpg Easy choice for me. I needed the security and weather proofing that comes with a hard top.

I live in Oregon bro. For the few months we have sun, when I am at the Deschutes or Wickiup Res it is awesome. It keeps the constant rain out great for me once you seal the seems. The cool part is you can fold it all the way down in the Summer, or take it off in 10 mins and put it back on before the rain comes

Most people seem to have no issues with the rain. If it does leak, it's very minor in the corner and if you have a bed mat it goes under it and drains out. Hard tops leak as well. I pulled the trigger on a soft topper from a member here and am stoked!

Well everyone, made my decision. I just got a (very slightly) used SnugTop Rebel shell from a friend who was moving on to a slightly raised topper. Color matched, smart lock, windoors, 24 in interior led bar, and Thule bars. Super stoked with this guy! IMG_3925 2.jpg IMG_3921 2.jpg
