Ahh, okay, it's not specifically Mercon, yeah if it covers at least Dexron II you're fine.

I changed mine for the first time when I swapped engines and it was gross, had basically 1 finger steering since I changed it and it doesn't whine anymore even under load.

Carefully remove the torsion spring and bushings, etc that are in place (there's a lot of energy in that facker).

Get the appropriate linear spring (I ordered a Brake Return Spring from Toyota, PN 90905-07028) and connect it to the clutch pedal on one end and to the tab along the body of the cab.

    Done.

Alright dudes it’s been almost 2 years since I last did my rear oil seal. Other one went out and has gotten worse and worse so I decided to tackle it. But I forgot what to do next, I got the axle out and I know what to do after this next step. Any help :D

I thought it was removing a snap ring but it’s super tight to get the tool in there

OK, powersteering fluid is back to a red color instead of mud. Doesn’t whine when at full lock.

Still have a constant hum noise though, kinda reminds me of a water pump or something. Seems to change with rpms, not spinning the wheel or air conditioner.

Can’t really pin point where it’s coming from... any ideas? I know it’s really a vague description.

You sure it's not still the pump? Is it happening when turning the wheel? When I did my PS it took a day or two for the steering whine to go away completely, I'm guessing as the new fluid started mixing better with what was left of the old.

It doesn’t whine at full lock, it barely whined before. What’s another way to diagnose that?

Woah fancy smancy slow motion, but my noise isn’t the ps squeal.... it’s just a hum. I tried to take a video but it’s a phone video sooo it might suck, I’ll go listen to it I guess.

Edit: can’t hear the noise in the video...

When's the last time you changed the AC tensioner pulley?

    Probably haven’t...

But wouldn’t the noise change when I turned the ac on if that were it?

No. That pulley is spinning all the time.

I would recommend replacing that pulley, or just the bearing if you can find one and want to save a few bucks.
