So much time and money...at what cost. You've gotta be completely insufferable to drive this.

 

You and me both. I'm actually excited to work in the yard this year (shudder).

Also, the mod bug has bit, exceedingly hard right now. The urge to purchase and work on things is strong.

 

I'd check your local weather and see what they are predicting. Only snow here will be in the mountains

 

Not sure if you did and I missed it, but... have you put on the suspension yet?!

 

I have not. I'm waiting for better weather. I need to order the rear pieces as well. I'm on the fence about the ECGS bushing. I need to talk with my buddy and see if he's game to tear my suspension apart with me 2X if it doesn't work the first go-round without it. The thing that has me nervous is that last time I screwed up the setting of the CV seal and ended up with a leak and I paid like $400 to have the dealer reset the seal. This time I won't go with an aftermarket seal if I go that route, but I need to get better at setting the seal. @BostonBilly set the bushing perfect for me last time and I volunteered to set the seal and screwed it up. The bushing worked flawlessly minus the leak I created. That's what I get for impersonating a mechanic. My friend has a much steadier hand than I, so I'm sure he can set up the removal tool for me and then I can set the bushing and let him try the seal for me this go-round. The problem with the bushing removal is that the way the removal tool works, you basically have to balance the removal bit on the edge of the differential with a magnetic reach tool and thread the puller rod into it. If you do it wrong, you drop the tool into the diff. I will also go with an OEM seal this time instead of the one ECGS supplies.

Right now I'm trying to figure out where I'm sitting with wheels, tires and rear suspension before I figure out what's next. I've got a few parts laying around to go in and depending on how the next week goes, I may be a poser and buy some Pro fogs, I dunno.

Gotcha. I ordered the ECGS and seal since I'm getting weird vibration at around 50/55 mph. Could be that and I'm not even lifted yet, could be my alignment is off, who knows. Either way figured it won't hurt to do the bearing replacement since we'll already be there sort of.

 

Stuff a plastic bag in there so you can get the puller end in and don't have to worry. Our puller end is too big or something so it takes some effort to get it in there

It feels like you're driving on a rumble strip on the highway if it's the needle bearing. Mine did it within the first quarter mile of lifting. Any weirdisms I had with vibrations or noises was always tires otherwise. My snow tires are highway tread, so that was always my reference point.

Also, I apparently didn't have any photos of my truck with the stock wheels and the lift. I have stock wheels with the bumper, but nothing post-lift. I also got a bunch more lift in the rear than you will, assuming you already have the 3+1 TSB springs.

 

Billy ground mine a bit so it works perfectly. Watching the video I saw the bag trick and I think that's the way to go. Otherwise it looks very straight forward outside of setting that GD axle seal. I was pretty miffed I got that wrong.

We always use a plastic bag, pull it out with needle nose pliers after you get the bearing out

 

The little bit I got it in 4hi it seemed like it went away. Or at least it seemed like it did. Never noticed it before last week or so, and I've had my winter wheels on since December. I've also hit some gnarly pot holes recently cause the roads suck around here. Holefully it's either the bearing or the alignment/tires. We'll see.
