OEmassive Quad Projector Retrofit

Seems like with all the Headlights you bake you’d have an oven just for that purpose lol... I hear easy bake ovens are pretty cheap...

 

You laugh, but I have a buddy with an oven and a fridge/freezer in his garage. The fridge keeps the beer cold and the oven/freezer are quite useful for metal joinery (valve stems, etc.), baking powdercoat, etc.

 

I rarely do headlights, so the oven isn't used that much. Although I have my eyes open for a cheap one that I can repurpose to put in the shop for a dedicated bake oven.

 

Yeah you can pick up an old oven cheap off Craigslist. I wish I had the space to keep one

 

Be sure to check the oven temp with a good thermometer. You would not want it to be melting lenses and such due to a bad dial/control calibration.

I bought a "good" used oven for my daughter a few years back she was having trouble with it burning stuff. Checked the temp and found it was running about 27 degrees hotter than the dial showed.Calibrated it and it works like a dream for her.

Jesus built your tacoma (at least mine), not your headlights.

 

New panels to hole the LED strips. They will sit under the acrylic Side markers and snap in like OEM.

Are you machining those from a solid piece of acrylic or some other process?

 

the above part will be 3d printed. The "lens" over the top is milled acrylic (shown in previous posts)

Baja Designs has announced that they will be selling a light bar with laser lights that will be released in the next few months. It will be a little pricey for now but it is still doable. The light projection distances are incredible. The link below will give you more information.

When I was working on the Doctors degree in Physics my area of research was in the refractive properties of various lasers. Although I am now retired I may contact the university to see if any of the professors will let me use their equipment to try to make a plug in laser for my high beams. It could be interesting.
