You get used to it very quickly. It's honestly not even an issue anymore.

I may flash again then, I'm 250miles in and still awkward. I can't even give it the lightest touch by taking my time without the initial jolt... I wonder if I have some kind of driveline slack somewhere

Just curious, not sure if it impacts it or not, but did you let it idle for 10-15 mins once flashed as @OVTune described?

I did not. Haven't noticed anything odd about the idle though.

I'll re-flash and let it sit this evening while I check out the underside

Only problem I'm experiencing is that when it's in 5th or 6th and you give it a little bit of gas to accelerate, it holds the gear and accelerates which is great, but it feels like the engine gets to a point where its struggling and runs a bit rough. I'm wondering if this happens with the 87 tune because the shift points were tested primarily using the 91 tune... I plan to run 91 next fill up.

My only other gripe is that when accelerating slowly from a stop it goes into 5th a tad too soon. It still accelerates smoothly in 5th so I'm not sure if I would call it a problem, but it's just so odd hearing that sudden massive drop in RPM since 5th is so tall.

I’m really liking the feel of the S gears with the full lock. I thought I heard the mileage would be horrible but I got 20.5mpg this morning on the way to work. Love it so far.

The manual transmission owners are enjoying the updated throttle mapping with their 1.03C release Wednesday night. All their initial reviews are glowingly positive, w.r.t initial throttle response.

When will automatic owners will get revised throttle mapping from Mat?

Stoked! I have been reading about this for months, really disappointed in the current form of the 3.5V6 as opposed to my 4runner4.0 and finally saved up to order it today! I was so close to selling and have almost traded this truck after the first month (May/17).

I think the initial throttle movement is too sensitive as well (completely stock tires/wheels here). I even reflashed and let it idle for 15 minutes...no change. Remember when someone tells you it's great as is, that 90% of Tacoma owners will tell you the same exact thing about the stock tune and transmission behavior.
