I only have 3 springs and am sitting at the dealership for the 'harsh ride / rear spring' TSB. They're looking at my vehicle. :)
I too wish they'd just do this before it gets delivered to the dealers for sale. Oh ell.

Well that's a bummer. I expected to make an appt to have the fourth leaf installed. All I got was 'We didnt see anything wrong with anything, please bring it back under load so we can look at it then'. WTF.

I would call the Toyota 800 customer care line. Dealing with dealers is just a guarantee for the run around.

Are they supposed to add that leaf with no discretion?

Hope I did this right with quoteing: What he said.

I just called Toyota customer service last week, to try and get the TSB. They were looking into the problem and showed a genuine concern for me. In the end they said my mileage was to far past the warranty to even claim. Not saying how many extra miles they may go. Worth a 15 miun phone call to try.

Unfortunately, the only people who seem to know about the tsbs are the folks on forums like this. There are several thousand owners who will never even hear about the tsbs and probably don't care. They used the 3 leaf pack to sell the trucks to owners who want trucks, but never intend to use them as trucks. I talked to a couple of the maintenance techs, not service writers, who said that most people would have complained about the stiffer ride than the ones who wanted it. I just had the harsh ride tsb done on my truck, but if it hadn't been for this forum, I wouldn't have known about it, or even cared to have it done, even though I've had quite a bit of weight in it at times.

The dealer can turn you down for any TSB if they find you do not meet their idea of needing the work. For a small call to Toyota, you might be able to get the assistance of the manufacture who in the end is paying for the work done.

If you were paying for the work to be done and they said we changed the oil and the oil plug broke, but we super glued this rubber piece up there so in our minds you are good to go; would you accept that since it was in their discretion or would you demand it be done right.

    Just saying.

I know this discussion has gone on for some time and exists on many threads on this board. I know i will be repacing the packs, but in the end i'm forking of 1500 dollars for something that should have been right from the get. Its out of warranty but how the fuck is the average joe supposed to know about TSBs with out a board like this. I happend to stumble across this board earlier this year and thats the only way I have been able to learn anything about my truck. I know the Fed has slapped toyota with a fine but where does that leave everyone else. Fucked like 2 dollar crack whore. The funny thing is i will probably get a Tundra for my next truck. lol

You would still get the squeak with the TSB leaves. They will get dirty just like your stock ones. I cleaned mine by decompressing them and used a wire brush in between them. Now, no more squeak except from the bushing.

Exactly, you can research new cars and shit online and not find out this important TSB stuff. Folks aren't really gonna go join a forum to find out all this beforehand when "thinking" about certain vehicles. Like they're really gonna join 5 different forums because that's how many choices they've narrowed down their list to. Not really that practical but nowadays has become the only way to thoroughly research before you buy so you just have to to not be taken advantage of at every turn. Time is money I suppose, one way or another. You either spend time up front for research or spend money and time later for not researching.

You've obviously never driven a Ford. Nothing moakes more suspension noise than them.

I see where your coming from. If the owners manual says we can tow a ~7,000lb load, make the truck capable of doing so.

    BS. NO WAY!
Had way too many vehicles over the years for this to be a true statement. You shouldn't have to grease springs. If you do have squeaks they might be more related to shocks, but not springs.
He is right though about the quality of some of the current Toyota's not being up to par with past vehicles from this company.

Called HQ and they opened a case for me. The local Customer Svc. Manager will get a call with instructions to follow up with me. We'll see.
I wonder: what other TSB's are out there I should have taken care off while it's in the shop?

SC your lucky because you are still under warranty and had the good fortune to be on a board such as this where TSBs are activly discussed. Stick it to them as much as you can because dumb asses like me who had no clue are forking it over to get our trucks to the postion they should have been from the get.

I feel your pain. What other TSB's are out there I don't know about yet? Mind you, I just joined this board last week!
