Yeah my bank's only advice to improve my credit score (besides have a longer credit history) was to avoid racking up a whole month's worth of charges and paying it off at the end. Instead, pay it off in smaller amounts.

So I may start doing that weekly or so.

Edit: My score is good, but it can always improve!

Too soon?

 

FWIW, my score jumped by 20 points or so when I had two cards and stopped using one (moved all my auto pay stuff to the other). I used it once after that, score dropped again. Stopped using it, score shot back up. Seemed like FICO likes a 0-balance card.

 

I may do that too then... Hmm...

 

The only other variable is the old card that I had some auto pay stuff on and stopped using had a $5k limit I think.

The card that I moved that stuff to and started using for everything instead of just daily spending was $11k or so. So maybe utilization played a part, not sure. Although, percent utilization was about the same on both cards when I was using both.

 

I have to remember that more. Last month I was high because I put money down for the dealer to place the order on my new truck. Should have really paid that halfway through so it didn't all hit on the statement as one big amount.

I heard staying under 20% is good, 10% is really good.

 

For sure. I did all cash or check, all the time, for everything until I was probably 25. I went to take out a loan on a motorcycle and they hit me with a ridiculous 9% interest rate quote because I had absolutely zero credit history, good or bad. And since 'none' translates to 'bad' I started working on improving it, so I got a basic credit card and started building my score, then moved to taking out small loans on vehicles, and when I bought the house in '12 my score was over 750, and when I bought my truck in the fall of 2016 I'd worked it up to an 820. It's lower now, just because of the amount outstanding on the truck vs my annual income, but it was super handy when it came to getting a low rate on the loan.

 

I think the bank pulled 814 for me on my mortgage app. It dropped when the mortgage showed up on the report. Couple inquiries, balance to loan amount ratio, and average age of accounts would all cause that. It's been slowly climbing, but it'll probably get knocked down a little again when my truck shows up in a month.

I know Danbury is very common to get power outages. They keep changing the snow amount for us, went from nothing, to 16+ to 3-4" bellow a 1,000ft and 16" above that... so i'm just planning to see what we get tomorrow when I wake up

 

That is the one job where they can fuck up all the time, and not get in trouble. I'd love to be a weather person.

We were just there last week and I forgot to look and see if they had any. Ran to the store up the road from my job, on my lunch break, and they had just gotten it in. Limited release, Two Juicy! From what the guy at the store said, they were going to still make it but it'll be less often. So I HAD to stock up!
