    I need to double check though cause when I was running the fridge in the house i would set it to 3 degrees but it would say 0. But it did turn off at 3 degrees. Thinking it was just stuff inside cooled it more

    It will be off by a few degrees, that's what I noticed too when I had it.

    Psss skids won't help you, I cracked mine under MobTown Off-road REINFORCED skids.... just saying

    Good lines is what will help you to not fuck things. So on that note, my new armour will be more aluminum than before, I'll be picking better lines now with this MT baby

    You keep saying this, and I KNOW my skids have saved my truck from taking damage at all compared to destroying the underside of it.

    Sometimes the correct line, throttle control AND skids are required for when a wheel slips off that line and BANG.

    They will save you but there will be still a chance of breaking things, so I would trust skids only for 50% of times, the rest is a good lines.

    I agree with both. But more @NorilskSever , the right line will win every time. You say they saved you but if they werent there, what would it have hit? The frame? Or it wouldn’t have hit at all cause of the clearance loss on the skids.

    I’ve never ran skids and never had a issue, lots of frame and shock mounts etc. But no damage, also not crazy difficult trails

    Again with the correct line stuff. Of course knowing what you are doing will always win.

    When the trail is 10 feet wide, 1 line. What line do you choose? The one that is chosen for you, it is not always a choice.

    I had lowered my truck with doing trail armor 1st, there is no correct line when every line leads to bumping the skids.

    So would I have hit with out skids? Who knows, I never wanted to find out.

    True, i just think of ardbeg to compare us. Going to the campsite there. My truck had one size up. So half inch more clearance there, and third gen so call it 1” more clearance overall from factory. The only place i touched was my hitch coming down a rock leaving.
    And you hit enough coming in being that low on the same stuff, but thats a good example of them not being helpful and us doing the same terrain. But now we don’t have to worry about that. You have bigger tires more clearance than me so im behind you now.

    I don't have pictures, since the crack was super tiny near drain plug and I only found it out few days later when I noticed oil on my driveway, but I can bet the damage resulted because the skid had this opening for the drain plug and a combination of me launching truck, plus sharp rocks and 32 inch tires did the job... :bikewhoops: Just a bad luck here I guess. I was satisfied with the skids overall and hope the new owner of them gets to enjoy as much as I did!

    I would only suggest you guys to make small drain holes for water, I noticed over 2 years of owning them that there are a lot of snow/water gets trapped under them. But definelty planning on getting new set of skids/sliders for a new truck from MobTown once I figure the setup. :thumbsup:

    Although I agree right line matters most it still pays to have them and they can save you . Sometimes you can't know if the line is right as you can't see .Talking really muddy and most of all water crossings.

    That spot you see below the access door was from the Minden water crossing.
    Couldn't see what was where and sure enough hit something. Could've easily been the oil pan etc.

    There's also times I know I slid down jagged rocks. Was no way to have a line without it just meant slide down. Without skids could've damaged stuff.

    Like said above though they should not be thought of as bulletproof

    I am most likely going with a mix of steel & aluminum skids, since I got better clearance now with TuRD Gen, so sliders is an option now, plus I am abandoning T-case skid, might just fabricate myself something there.

    The goal is to have a light truck and not a heavy pig that will bring me back to 14-15L/100km, I am enjoying my 11.5L/100km with 32" tires on a winter gas right now and looking forward to 10L in the summer haha.


    I do plan on a drive to a west coast, Moab, etc and 10L looks way better financially on a highway rather than 15L+ :spending:

    Even the 401 drive to Swisha Loop is a 600KM, and I can last on one tank vs the rest filling up twice. I am at 1100kms right now on a new truck and only filled 2.5 times so far btw.

    You worry about 15l/100km. My truck doesn't have all the skids or bumper installed yet and I get 17l/100km right now. I'll probably hit 20 by the trip. I miss my Yaris!

    Gotcha. Definitely something you need to be on top of. Well if keeping ice and what not. Worst case two of us will have a fridge that we can arrange as a back up.

    Seems like an exscuse for a fridge though. Check out Whytner.

    I carry a lot of tools so it's usually loaded so I'm sure the extra weight adds to the bad mileage.

    You got a cap too I remember, that adds drag too, so yeah, sucks. :(
    When I had bed bars with RTT at the back, it almost took me 3/4 of tank to get from Toronto to Ardbeg, vs without just 1/2.
