@OVTune the original post says that the test truck has "Pro Comp larger tires", could you update this with the actual size of the tires please?

I probably don’t notice a throttle issue or think it’s a problem cause I was ECT always on before. Feels good to me but we’re all different

folks with 2 vehichles most likely wont see a problem. Switching back and forth between my 2016 pathfinder and 2017 tacoma the taco feels sluggish. Thats saying alot comming from a soccer mom suv...

I rarely used ETC in the past, because I didn't like how touchy the throttle was in traffic (100% sure it wasn't really touchy as much as I'd gotten used to the muted feeling of the stock throttle)... but I've been driving with it on all the time to try and get used to a touchy(er) throttle.

It is similar. After driving with ETC you notice how bad the stock tune is. There is a noticeable amount of added power to the feel of the truck.

Just got it installed today. I let it idle for 10 mins straight to get the idle correct. Thank you @OVTune

Initial impressions are quite good. The throttle tip in reminds me of my Acura TSX it is touchy but if you finesse it; it is honestly not too bad. Normal D feels more like ECT used to on a stock tune with more power and better shifting all around. I am saving a lot of gas due to stock ECT holding my revs at 1500 rpm most of the time and 1.03 allowing it to drop below that while still having usable power.

On the highway it works great, saving gas there too. Love the pedal feel and shifting with it. Just more responsive all around.

ECT is a completely different monster. I now realize this truck actually has a lot of power. If you step on it while using ECT you takeoff. I ended up going 130 km/hr or 80 mph give or take without really realizing it. Actually quite nice. Great for merging on fast highways.

Overall very impressed and glad I spent the money. Was a bit of a pain with the dongle issues I had, but all said and done worth it.

Flashing takes about 10-15 mins and that was doing it for the first time. I used a Windows 7 x64 laptop and it was a breeze. Happy to answer any questions if people have them.

Throttle response feels good to me. I do however have the heavy ass BFG KO2 tires though.

Exactly. After driving the Tacoma (especially with stock tune but even with 1.02b) and then getting in my wife's Maxima (295hp 3.5L) I always seem to lunge forward several times on takeoff while adjusting to the difference in pedal response. :burnrubber:

Anybody hear rumors on when the new flash manager will post, or more importantly when the '18 automatic tunes will post? Last I read was 'soon'.

@OVTune for those of us with a Tactrix cable already, can the flash kit be ordered without it?

What you are experiencing may be the lash in the driveline .engine mount and hanger bearing twist will also add to the lash, add DEFCO into the mix and can get some serious jolts on and off throttle.
This is why I am proponent of killing DEFCO for best throttle by cable feel.

I couldn't agree more. I noticed the same issue driving with ETC on stock tune for months before I had the tune and it would always annoy me. It would be cool if @OVTune could take a look at that. But, I also love the tune overall! That's pretty much the only thing, and it's really hard to try to control that issue with the pedal, yet something I think about everytime i slow down for a speed bump then try to re engage the pedal.

Other than killing DEFCO there's nothing a tune can do.
I had a 88 supra turbo targa with 575 k and it had less lash than this truck new.
Lower tolerances from Toyota and DEFCO are to blam.

Well definitely don't wanna kill the tune, that's not an option. Maybe it's time for some bigger tires. :notsure:
