I have a 2016 tacoma TRD 4 x 4 double cab, looking to install an after market lift, looking at the King shocks or Fox setups, not sure which is best. Being told Fox provides more travel, I do a lot of Baja trips, also installer is recommending blocks in back instead of additional leafs if I carry a lot of gear/weight. Not sure if this is accurate advice? Would like a 2 or 21/2 inch lift, as I am going to stick with the 265 x 70 x 16 tire and wheels for the gas mileage.

As far as I know the claim that fox provides more travel than king is incorrect. Also, I would disagree with the shops recommendation of blocks over leaves.

Maybe run the other direction from that shop.

Shocks provide the amount of travel spec’ed. Read before you buy.

Call or PM @HeadStrong Off-Road. That shop is very incorrect, blocks do nothing to increase the weight capacity of your rear springs! A single leaf or leaf packs will give you additional weight handling in addition to giving lift.

If you have the cash I’d get kings, not that bad for price depending on which ones you get. If your doing miles of washboard you want something good

I am thinking you gave them a price range and they are willing to get it the height you want it. And since you don't know the difference in the way fox or king ride, they are telling you want to hear or what they can get through their distributor. I would be weary of their advice and do more research. Maybe go to a local meet and see if you can test drive a couple of members rigs. Just a thought.

    Just cus I was curious...

    Kings specs
    Extended: 22.375
    Collapsed: 17.308

    Fox specs
    Extended: 22.51
    Collapsed: 17.58

    King Stroke = 5.067
    Fox Stroke = 4.93

That's of course not wheel travel but none the less.

Thanks for all the info, I was looking at the King KSTAC05, and Fox UL-FoxTA05 kits. I have a 2002 Diesel Ford Excursion with a 4 inch ICON kit and have been real happy with that too, it's just me, the wife, the dog, going down the baja now, so don't need so much girth on the narrow roads. I'd rather spend a little more up front and not regret it later for something better.
