Interesting point. Does installing the Tundra rack negate being able to go back to stock if needed?

Going back to stock isn't really a practical option.

This is true. I'm not sure if you can do the install in a way that preserves the old mounts. The way they usually do it does not though.

This is also very true. Once.you start welding on the frame that's pretty much over.

On the other hand, being able to use off the shelf parts is good.

Just picked up a OEM str rack off a 2015 with 12k miles for $230 shipped. Planning to swap out with Energy Suspension Poly bushings, fingers crossed...

@Blackout14 is there still that CVT discount thread open? Also what’s the TW discount, 10 or 15%?

Can anyone give me an idea where to start on this, my truck wouldn't start after I drove it to school so I had to get it towed home, thought it was the fuel pump, replaced that didn't start, then saw it was throwing the P0340 for the camshaft position sensor, so I replaced that and still nothing. I guess I would have to check the wiring but I don't know where to start on that, I hate wiring.

@Chux I think you were asking. I fixed my fog light issue. I screwed something up with the switch. It wasn’t a relay.

Realistically the steering rack is something that you know is going out. And someone posted earlier that the rack is modified to accept the Tacoma inner and outer tie rod ends. So should you break one of those wheeling it could easily be obtained at an auto parts store.

Agreed. True, and if the rack is leaking really bad, with a couple bottles of Barr’s Stop Leak :crapstorm:and 2.5gal of Dextron ATF you might be able to drive halfway across the world! Prob go through a couple PS Pumps too but it will get you home

Yeah, been pretty white since I've been up. What I shoveled is nearly back. Roads are definitely worse than they were 3 hours ago. Just went to pick my mom up, and a lot of areas are without power. Fortunately, I haven't lost it.
Truck did just fine in the snow though. Haven't much to compare them to, but the Grabber AT2s do just fine in snow.

Mine is ready to go but hope I don't have to use it. Got turned around twice on my way home from work by downed trees. Branches and tree debris on every road.

No, they machine down the tundra parts to make them tacoma compatible.

For a true back country, around the world expo rig the solo rack would not be my choice, because I want to be able to grab hilux parts and limp on.

But I also wouldn't use an LT rig for the exact same reason, I need to swap in OEM junk yard parts and limp to the next place I can get 1" uniballs, or whatever.

That's not really a CONUS problem thought, IMO.

Been in the garage all day making progress on a lumber rack build. Finish reinforcing the wall, sheeting it and got started on the mounts. Knew about it but never done this thing called whiskey bend till now, quiet happy with the results.

geez, who did that wiring!? it's very clean but damn, they could have paired them up at least and save some time. I'd like to see the inside of your panel. I'll bet its purdy  I love roughing in new panels.
