My truck has 6,000 miles on it and I’ve been driving it like I stole it since day one; that’s just how I drive. I like hard accelerations and high RPMs to get to the speed limit and I actually enjoy the sound of the stock exhaust. I also frequently take it on trails that are rated more difficult than what the truck should be able to handle, which is kind of a sub-hobby to my off roading hobby.

I intend to keep this truck forever and put over 500,000 miles on it. The truck is my baby but I can’t allow myself to be afraid to use it.

    What about you guys?

(As for the 3rd gen transmission thing - I actually think my truck “learned” to not be sluggish because of how I drive it, so I don’t really have that complaint like most do, but I would still consider OVTune.)

For me, I usually shift around 2500-2800 if I’m trying to get the best possible gas mileage and everything. But there are times where I bang through all the gears on a back road like I’m on a race track... responsibly of course.

I don't. I used to drive anything like I stole it, but I just got older and speeding and weaving got mentally too tiring.
Now I just cruise and enjoy the scenery, while still drive a bit above average speed. That puts me in that middle place where I'm not mashing it nor hypermilling. So I'd like a smooth and available low end torque on ramps and switching lanes.
So that whole feel with the tranny has been wonky.

Not that fast. I usually don’t go much above the speed limit cause they’re usually curvy roads with tight turns which I a lot more fun than straight stretches, for me at least.

I had the same thought haha. In my case, I have a used 2001 Tacoma that isn’t as precious as a 2017.

I have a heavy foot, nothing like when I was younger, but now usually 10-15mph over the speed limit, Hwy, side roads. When I can, traffic is getting shittier by the day!! But heading to work on most given mornings at 5:30am I can get my speeding on:) and I'm still getting 20-21mpg on average! Think I got lucky with this truck as far as that goes!

I drive "spirited" most of the time, but every once in a while I turn on the ECT and mob around. This truck loves to pull at 3800+. I change the oil regularly. She can take it.
