A flat webbing come along and 30ft solid strap, not a snatch strap come in very hand on things like this. You can burry your spare tire and pull straight back.

I just went up to go shooting, didnt think about saying something cause most people work weekdays lol. Its probably a good thing you didnt if you had shit to day. Opposite of a 99% percent normal scenario, when I was packing up at 730. It had warmed up slightly, then started down pouring. It took me 10 hrs to get down. Digging out the wet heavy snow in the center 30ft at a time. Riding out of the ruts was not a choice, you can see the 2ft jump of what turned into wet shitty powder.

Having extra gas, clothes and my emergency bag saved my ass.

Been having issues with my truck lately, steering wheel would shake under light braking. While that is a classic sign of "warped" rotors (or uneven pad deposits, depending on which school of thought you subscribe to), it wasn't consistent. Sometimes it would shake like hell, other items it was fairly smooth. Well, "smooth" for a Taco, which wouldn't be smooth for a Cadillac.....

With very light brake pressure at slow speeds while coming to a final stop, it would almost feel like the brakes were grabbing in one spot, causing a bit of a "surging" sensation. I had the brakes redone by Michael's back in August 2016 with 35,000 miles on the original rotors/pads, and the "new" ones have roughly 20,000 miles on them. OEM rotors and TRD Performance pads, thinking that was the ticket for heavy 33" tires.

Anyway, I've been trying to track down the damn problem for months. Re-bed the pads to the rotors. No change. Took it to Les Schwab for their "free" brake inspection. Said they found nothing, everything looks great. Ok. Had an alignment done. Nope, not that. Bought a dial indicator and magnetic base. Checked both rotors, very minimal runout and even thickness. What the hell? Replaced the right front bearing, thinking it was going out. Nope, problem still existed. Checked the tie rods (they're good) and all ball joints (same.) WHAT. THE. FUCK!!!

    :annoyed:

A few days ago I said "fuck it" and ordered the Power Stop K137 front kit from Amazon. $174 for 2 rotors and pads, delivered? Even if they are total shit (probably are, with those cross drilled rotors and all...), it was cheap enough to give it a try. Took me about 2 hours today from start to finish (including clean up) to swap the rotors and install the new pads. The right side was easy, since I had recently replaced that bearing, but I was shocked by the amount of dust and crud that had built up on the left side. Like "holy shit that is a lot of brake dust and crud buildup....."

Anyway, the TRD pads look like they have a ton of life left. But after getting the new rotors and pads installed, the truck brakes nice and smooth again. So it was definitely a rotor/pad related problem, most likely the rotors.

I hope this brings back some sanity while driving the Taco. I was ready to crash it into a wall and walk away, it was driving me crazy. Still might dump it for a full size truck (Plan B), but Plan A is to keep it and buy a used Porsche 911. :D

I put those on my commuter. They are so great on it (c230 Kompressor) I almost replaced the Tacoma rotors with them. I was concerned that the holes and groves would collect mud and cause an issue. Anyone experience this?
Yep. Gotta have enough anchor points.
