Lift and tires... I know there are a ton of threads already but thought I would try this approach... Minimal off road driving just a few firescenes here and there, no climbing or crawling. Looking at a 3" suspension. At this point I'm considering a rough country vs. Pro comp but open to suggestions. I am aware of the negative aspect of spacers. I want a decent quality, without breaking the bank. Now tires... I'm pretty impressed with the Falken Wildpeaks A/T 3.... But please someone weigh in here.... Thanks in advance ya'll!

What about 5100's all around with an aal. Might be a little nicer than pro comp or rough country? If you don't do a lot of wheeling whatever tire you like best should suit you.

    @HeadStrong Off-Road is a great resource

Why buy a 33k+ truck and cheap out on suspension.

2nd gen trd pro suspension is selling like wild fire right now. Fits the 3rd gen with no modification adds 2in up front then get an aal and its a cheap reliable lift. The 4 shocks sell as a kit for about 630 shipped.

I ordered this morning from Conicelli, $550 plus shipping for the 2nd gen Pro suspension. They have a 10 percent off deal going from the super bowl.
    Stock UCAs are fine.

I have 6112/5160 with 2.5 inches of lift. I got new uca because I wasn't hitting the caster numbers I wanted. Also depends if you need to clear bigger tires in my case 285s. I had stock uca prior to upgrading and wasn't even getting 1 degree of caster

I've been looking at a few of the cheaper lifts because to be honest it's more cosmetic for me. I don't go off road much at all, if i do its usually for work scenarios. So Im debating on whats needed vs. Whats wanted... personally if I bought what I wanted I would be $2800 in suspension. But there just isn't a valid reason to do that. I'm planning on doing a 31 or 32 inch tire on stock rims

I honestly really haven't looked at the Bilstein's... I was reading through threads yesterday and came across some negative comments about Bilstein but can't find the thread now

really nothing negative about the Bilstien 5100s or higher. they are a much better ride than the factory springs as well as they are adjustable. it really is a good suspension on a poor persons budget. I had them on my last taco and will proabably be putting them on my new one as well. You can go cheaper by using factory springs but if you have the little extra it would take for the OME springs I would do them. As far as the back the Wheelers offroad or the ICON progressive 3 piece AAL is the way to go with the Bilstiens.

Theres nothing wrong with spacers if your not going to beat the shit out of your truck, so rough country and procomp are easy choices.

I started with a 3” RC lift in my 08’ and ended up busting the leaf springs so I replaced them with Dakars then blew a strut out (along with some other things) on a stump, so I went with the 5100’s with eibach springs.

The moral to this story is depending what your going to do with your truck, lift it accordingly. Spacers are for show, Shocks will help you go.

So the experience with the truck..... First of all a huge thank you to everyone on this forum who weighed in and answered my questions. Because of you all I saved about $300 and was able to catch a reputable dealer (or so I thought) in a lie. Which resulted in them not being trusted with my $40,000 baby. But the truck is done...for now...

    So end result
-3in rough country lift for $299 (yes I know...but it's my daily and not going to see much off road if any so it was the more affordable and efficient choice for me)
-I also purchased the front struts from rough country. (brought the lift to $499)
-1 1/4 G2 wheel spacers ($99 a pair x 2=approx. $200 and added a 3 year full warranty purchased from 4wheelparts in Columbus Ohio and these folks were awesome to deal with and had a ton of knowledge)
-265/70/17 Falken Wildpeak at3's (purchased from Buck's Tires in Greenfield Ohio for about $132 a tire)

So keep reading to find out what ya'll saved me from...

So my original intent was to use a shop called Tim's Tires in Chillicothe Ohio. They have been in business probably almost 10 years, I myself have done a lot of business there. Long story short its where everyone takes their lifted babies and diesels.... So their price on my tires was $157 a tire, and $240 for wheel spacers... and this is where you all come in.... I immediately asked, "ok and those are hub centric and wheel centric wheel spacers right?" the jerk that I was already tired of dealing with because he clearly didn't know shit about his job says, " well yeah, well hold on let me check" ...... "ok, no they aren't but I've never heard of any that are" ... yup strike one......... He followed that with "but we sell a ton of the ones we are ordering you and have never had any issues"...... well that is funny because when I asked you all what the price of the wheel spacers were you "weren't sure because you don't sell a lot of them" .... so there is strike 2..... He then informed me that the actual price of my wheel spacers would be closer to $260, because I would have to pay the $20 shipping charge... nope strike 3!!!!!! So I put on my own lift as planned, picked up my own spacers, and went to Buck's saved some money and found my new go to for wheels and tires because Ryan there was awesome!

So my girl rides super smooth, really don't notice much difference at all. I could of used a little more offset for my liking but wheels may eventually be in my future, however I'm content for now. Next project is going to be dog proofing my rear seats.... and then some mods to the bed for storage, organization ect... and then a lock box for my conceal in the center console

oh and Btw...the sway bar links are a bitch to hook back up!

I sincerely appreciate all of your guy's knowledge... I will get some pics up soon!

I have a set(all 4) of brand new 3rd Gen 5100s for sale. I will take $250 for them plus whatever it costs to ship them to you. Probably another $20 to most anywhere in lower 48. I installed them and set the fronts to 1.55" setting and did NOT like the ride. Really stiff. I went back to my stock Off Road 4600s and put a 1" spacer on top of the strut assembly and a 1" block in the rear and called it good. I don't off road or rock crawl. It has a great stance now and rides great. These were on for probably all of 20 miles. They can be adjusted to .65", 1.1", 1.55: or 2" of lift in the fronts. All hardware included of course...
