I've never not been able to go over the pass in the last 25 years of being here.

I remember last year I got turned around at truckee, had a big trip planned to Yosemite, etc and it got squashed...
They don’t like having it closed though because it costs a lot of money

I've been turned around but have been able to hit 395 south and beat the storm. Lucky for me I was going to Ventura and can take either freeway.

Back in the day if you had "snow tires" you were clear. Doesn't surprise me this is where were at. Fortunately I usually go east not west.

Ok, so I am over paying over 200 a month on cable. Who is using something else like Direct TV Now, or Sling TV or something? I need to figure out what I am going to switch to and then I am going to go down to Charter and tell them to shove the cable boxes up their ass. Everyone always says that you can go down to the store and they will put you on another promotional plan. Why do I have to do that? Why don't they just freaking keep the price low? EFF Charter cable.

I shitcanned Charter's TV service over a year ago (also had DirecTV on/off in the past). I now get all of the local channels OTA for free and my cable internet is $65/mo. I have Prime with scamazon ($99/yr), so I get their streaming service, which I see as virtually the same as Netflix. Plus it comes with the free 2-day delivery business, so that's a bonus.

I use tunein.com if I want to hear shit like cable news for free. I tried Sling briefly, but realized I was still paying for channels that I didn't want, plus had to get both of their packages to get the channels I did want. There are a handful of cable channels that I would still like to be able to watch, but not nearly enough to make me continue getting gouged. The biggest adjustment is losing the DVR, but there are OTA DVRs out there if it's a must-have. I actually spend less time now in front of the dumbbox and that's a good thing--a damned good thing.

I have sling and for $30 I get the channels I watch most frequently and dvr recording. It's not the greatest format and the dvr is pointless cause you can't ffwd but I watch everything on demand so it's no bother.

We dont have cable, we get by with a combination of Netflix/Amazon Prime which pretty much covers it. Bonus: Fiances parents gave us their HBO password so we can tune in online for anything over there. And for hockey (pretty much the only tv i watch) i stream it online.
