Cool it’s worth looking into, I just hopped into my truck to leave the bar and god damn, the suction cup mount promptly fell off of my windshield when I popped my phone into the Akron brand holder, so glad I am going this route, ha ha!

    Thanks for the tip.

so the last item I ordered is getting here today. I have a few M6 nuts that I will have to use a spacers, correct? In order to push the ball out a bit?

I ended up going with the Ram ball mount, the short arm, and a square base, so that I can stick the Scosche mount to it.

That’s exactly what I used the nuts for as the cavity is quite deep and it makes it hard to get a solid grip on the ball with the mount.

Good deal. Well I've got four, so I'm thinking I can tighten at least two up against one another to act as a spacer and the other nut to tighten the ball mount to the bolt

Letting the magic mount adhesive cure, but this looks like a solid setup. Thanks again for the idea!

Mounted it to the top bolt. Had to order a longer swivel arm. It will be out of the way, but not sure if it is too close to my face. I need a new battery for the Garmin and I also need to run power to the unit. I will take a better pic in the daylight

    Slightly better pic.
It isn't in the way, but it is only used out in the desert, better for than the phone and it shows all the small dirt roads. Anything bigger probably wouldn't work.

Hey, I know its been a while, but you still like this mounting method? Is it messing up your grip being clamped down tight on it?

I am 6'3" and had to get the birddawgindustries rear view mirror riser, it is amazing. Along with it I got the RAM ball when I bought it since why not.

This is my secondary location for the phone, RAM mount is amazing and takes like 2 seconds to move, from the pillar mount to here.

You are kidding right? Look at the other pic, with like 3 things in his view.

I mean if you try and piss off cops to give you tickets that you dont need, sure its a problem. Everything would be a problem then.

The GPS is actually in front of the pillar and is used Off road. Dash cam is behind the rear view mirror, radar detector only obstructs the hood. They generally have an issue with stuff hanging from the mirror or suction cups on the windshield.

If they want to give you a ticket, they will find something.

Easily one of the top mods ever. Now out exploring I can mark the spots I need to effortlessly.

I am gonna do the passenger side next for a GoPro.

    Outstanding recommendation guys.

Super easy to install on my Tacoma!

On a 2001 4runner... Pretty much jacked my wife's pillar up beyond repair! Screw head stripped, tried 2 different screw extraction kits, no dice!

Going to try and tap it, create new threads, and start fresh .

I've always liked this mod but never pulled the trigger. Ordered everything but the nuts and washers last night. I'll have to start thinking what I'm going to mount in it, and a power solution for it.

Anyone found a solution for USB C devices? I'd like to add like a combo USB outlet with a type C and a Type A port.

Why would you need a USB C port? I charge my phone with a C cable. It still has a USB A plug on the other end.
