A2 front sight ok to start with or would you buy/build one without A2 front sight?

There's nothing wrong with an a2 sight! But If I was building, I would skip the a2 sight

Many Companies here locally have stopped doing delivery contracts with Amazon for these very reason. One guy was telling me that if the package was not delivered within the time frame he would be penalized with a fee % to where it would cost him money to deliver the package....

Is it hard to add a scope to a rifle that has the A2 sight and function ok without it sitting a mile high off the rail?

I shot a M4 for 6 years using a 4x ACOG for annual qual, I never really noticed the front sight post while looking through the optic to be honest and it wasn't sitting crazy high off the receiver.

What do you guys think of DPMS? Are they good quality or should I look past them for a Ruger or S&W for first budget AR?

A vendor that comes to work has one and he says he's never had any issues out of his either.

Got a lower coming in that's probably gonna get a Hera CQR stock and general misc parts. Still trying to figure out an upper and caliber though. Does anybody have experience with .458 Socom? I like the idea of a semi-auto 45-70 feeding from standard magazines.

Fun and a backup bear gun in the sticks. Price is another reason to reload, I'm already considering reloading gear for my rifle so it'd just be dies to reload my own.

I'd recommend you save up a little more, to be honest. What part of NC are you in?
