You replaced the shoes but did you adjust them correctly? When did the issue start happening?

I adjusted them when i put them on. I haven't had issues until about 3 weeks ago. I replaced all pads and shoes in late august last year.

Find a hill, put the parking brake on, and put it in neutral. If the rear shoes are adjusted correctly the parking brake should hold it.

The pushrod got jammed and they to replace the whole master cylinder. Front brakes were only like 4 months old so they were good.

I had it flatbedded to the dealer not knowing what was wrong it, and unfortunately my truck was out of warranty. I didn't feel like calling AAA and having it towed all over creation until I found a garage that would charge a reasonable price. Plus, my dad paid for that since it was considered a freak occurrence and not my fault...

Yeah, that whole thing had to be replaced.

The Toyota guys were absolutely shocked, claimed to have never seen anything like it!

UPDATE: I adjusted the rear brakes, and completely flushed out the old brake fluid with new fluid. This helped a lot but I still have to push the pedal down around 2.5” for it to start braking. I don’t know if I’m just use to other cars brakes or not. Do your Tacoma’s brakes take a little more distance to brake?

I fought this issue on my truck for two months, replaced the master cylinder twice along with all the fixes I could think of, adjusted rear drums, replaced lines, bled the system over and over again, replaced the booster, nothing worked but finally when I replaced the master cylinder the third time the problem went away.
