I haven’t installed yet, but they look much higher in quality than the factory leafs.

Dang. I was looking at the cost of a single leaf, not a pair. So...$350 or so for a set? I’ll probably stick to the AAL I already bought.

pro/cons between these and dakar's? I have 52k miles and will be putting the lift on this weekend(probably going to need something for the rear); I'm just doing the front first to see if I need something or not, but from the other posts it sounds like I will, I thought a 3-leaf aal would be enough but then I started thinking about a whole pack because of mileage..

This is sort of what I am doing. I bought the HD dakars with the idea being I can always remove a leaf. It is cheaper to buy the HD pack and remove vs. the med. pack and buying a leaf.

I don’t really think there is any pro/con vs. the Dakar’s and general spring hd. The Dakar are gonna lift more and have a pretty good reputation around here. The only experience I have with the general springs are that my buddy has a pair and some of the threads I’ve read on here about them. My buddies truck with the general springs rides really good. I have a few friends with the Dakar’s, but it’s had to compare them because the ones with the Dakar’s are running spacers in the front or 5100s maxed out so the ride is just very stiff. I chose the general springs because of price and I didn’t want to remove any leafs or have a ton of weight in the back to smooth them out.

For me since I tow a lot and always have weight in the bed, the Dakars seemed like the obvious choice.

That all being said. I wouldn’t hesitate in buying Dakar’s. I’m hoping to get at least 2” out of the General springs.

I got no problem with Dakars either. Just don't want 2.75" rear lift. I'm trying to minimize the increase to the factory rake. So will probably add 1/4" topper up front as well.

For anyone interested in the Single Leaf AAL.

I have nothing to compare it to, since I have never installed the progressive 3 leaf packs or driven a truck with aftermarket leafs, but after installing the wheelers 1.5 inch AAL for my stock 3+1 suspension with 51k miles on it, the rear felt very stiff until I put a leer canopy on the back. What a difference. The truck has not sagged at all and maintained the lift in the rear, rake is very comparable to stock, and the ride is much better than it was when I had no weight in the back. For those of us on a budget, the single AAL isnt nearly as bad as I feared they would be.

Those red springs won't fit on 5100's will they?

I don't carry weight around very often, and I want to have a little bit of a rake (after the trd pro lift in front) but less than stock. so I figured the 1.5" lift would suffice for the rear but you are expecting around 2" lift from factory to the Generals without an aal? I looked at my springs and they are a little flat which makes me think I will definitely be a little nose high.

If you search this forum with the keywords general spring you should find a few threads that review the HD pack. A lot of the guys got over 2” of lift with that pack. Some got right a 2” and some right at 1.5. Every truck is different and I have no first hand experience with these springs. I am hoping to get 2” because I want to maintain the factory rake. If I am level after the install, I’ll add the progressive aal without the overload and kick myself for not going with dakars in the first place.

Gotcha, I know I need to do more research, I kind of bought the suspension on a whim because of the price, so I'm playing catch up as I haven't looked into lifting my truck in the past 2 years. I don't even know what the trd pro bilsteins compare to regarding other shocks in the same performance category. I'll be installing everything myself, just wondering if I should install the front first like planned or wait until I have everything. I also have tires waiting at discount right now... I do want to wait until after the lift to put them on, but I may not make it!

No worries. Seems like a lot of folks bought this kit on a whim. The good thing is you can’t really go wrong with it. Especially at the price it was discounted to. This is the most shock/spring combo you will ever get for the money. I think I bought it cheaper than you can buy 5100’s on all four corners. Wouldn’t hurt a thing to install the front first. Probably a good idea if your on the fence on how to lift the rear. Let it settle for a few weeks and match the rear lift to the front. I should say won’t hurt unless a little bro lean bothers you.

decisions, decisions...now I'm wondering if I should have gotten the 1/4" spacer for the front as well for a little extra in the front....

I haven't actually driven both. I did order both to install on my truck so I could compare them side-by-side to see what I liked better (cause I'm crazy like that) as actual Pro trucks were difficult to find at the time, but the Pro shipment got very delayed due to lack of availability so I ended up just cancelling the order. But I did talk to a few members that had driven both, and they each said the same things about the Baja being far more sporty and fun to drive on the street which matches the specifications of the different systems. The stiffer spring and digressive valving on the Baja results in flatter cornering and reduced nose dive when braking compared to the progressive valving and softer coil rate of the Pro. But the Pro is going to offer a smoother ride over uneven terrain in low speed off road, compared to the Baja which is built for speed. Since my truck is vast majority daily driver, I chose my suspension accordingly. I have since added All Pro Apex sliders.

You can see the thread here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/selecting-a-mild-lift-trd-baja-tx-pro-icon-aal.385619/

I'll follow up on the shenanigans in the other thread.
